Victor Wembanyama is taking his retreat seriously and doesn’t want to be disturbed. Sightings are rare though Monks have gotten photos and autographs while tourists mostly leave him alone. I’m told “Shaolin Wemby” has been waking up at 4:30am to run and has been spotted occasionally near Bodhidharma Cave and on temple paths. Morning training typically happens inside temple grounds while lunch is off-site. He runs again around 5pm before evening class.

This was the play that got Lu Dort ejected. The contact with Nikola Jokić appeared to be targeting his previously injured left knee. Some OKC fans are arguing it was just incidental contact and that Jokić sold it. But when asked, lead referee James Williams was clear that the action met the criteria for a flagrant foul due to the nature of the contact: “Lu Dort was assessed a flagrant foul penalty 2 because we deemed his contact on Jokić to be unnecessary and excessive with a high potential for injury, and also because the contact led to an altercation that did not dissolve. So, by rule, a flagrant foul penalty 2 carries an automatic ejection.”

Anyone who thinks De'Aaron Fox is “ducking” or that the Spurs are playing lineup games truly does not understand how dangerous that injury play by Ayo Dosunmu was. Fox basically forced himself to play through the ankle injury in Game 6, and afterward the ankle reportedly responded very poorly with swelling and soreness. This isn’t gamesmanship. It’s the Conference Finals and he's dealing with a legitimately compromised ankle.

I'm not the coach, but I am gonna say this because I'm paid to... Mason Plumblee and Bismack Byombo knew EXACTLY what they were doing here. And just like the Thunder, they're not interested in runner-up trophies or ethical hoops. These vets bring appropriate NASTY and perhaps should be given more minutes if others are "too gassed or tired" to bring it.

Before Game 4, Stephon Castle said the Spurs had identified “one easy fix” after watching film and then after the game Devin Vassell said the team had made one defensive adjustment but refused to reveal what it was. I'm wonder if that adjustment and fix wasn't as simple as targeting and stopping OKC’s Alex Caruso? During the two losses Caruso had become one of the most impactful players on the court and to see him shut down the way he was on Sunday was, to say the least, impressive. In addition, NBA writer Tomer Azarly received confirmation from the league that Josh Hart should have been whistled for a foul on the Castle drive. Down 105-104 with 1:02 remaining, the Spurs were already in the bonus and the correct call would have given Castle a golden opportunity to take the lead with two massive free throws.

Let me be clear, if I wasn't already. No one can tell me those two Spurs vets (and others) aren't completely fed up. When they checked in, they were CLEARLY on a mission. And as we all saw and were told during the previous series when exasperated Wemby finally swung HIS ELBOW, this is what happens when the NBA doesn't enforce the rules designed to protect players and the supposed integrity of the game of basketball. Suddenly, rival fanbases are confronted and outraged when San Antonio finally decides to match that physicality and retaliate in the closing minutes of Game 5. Yet, those same toxic critics stayed completely silent while their own team spent five games grabbing, pulling, and straight up flopping repeatedly because the league's BEST officials actively allow it. We live in a world where people see what they want to see how they want to see it. Everyone spouting their own version of the truth. Well, stay tuned and watch what happens when integrity of this game continues to go out the window.

Dude has experience and lots of NASTY plus he can grab loads of rebounds and run in transition faster than any other big. If he gets a technical or thrown out, oh well.”

Knicks fans screaming about the league not retroactively upgrading Victor Wembanyama’s foul should actually be counting their blessings tonight. Why? Because while they were focused on Wemby, I'm told the NBA league office was reviewing this entire bench clearing sequence and specifically the actions of Jose Alvarado who previously served a major three-game suspension for having been involved in a nearly identical bench-clearing incident in 2024 against the Miami Heat. When the scuffle kicks off under the basket, several Knicks players leave the bench area in violation of the rules and Alvarado gets right in the middle of the scrum. He is seen pushing, heavily engaged with both Luke Kornet and De'Aaron Fox, waving his finger and escalating the tension getting face to face with Fox. Under the NBA’s strict bench-clearing rules, he is undeniably not acting as a "peacekeeper." The Knicks players left the bench before San Antonio called timeout. If the league had decided to apply the letter of the black and white law regarding bench conduct and physical escalation, as they have multiple times this season, New York could easily be down a crucial backcourt piece or 4 for Game 4.
