I think I know why it took so long for DK64 to come out. Since this game was designed to have a slow frame rate due to the N64 capability. Nintendo will intentionally slow the game down on some bonus games. Otherwise, it will be impossible to beat, like this one

Beat the Beetle on my first try. That dumb Beetle was so hard to beat as a kid. Getting all 50 coins and not hit or fall off the slide, I dreaded it. But it's not so bad now. #NintendoSwitchOnline #DonkeyKong
