.James Talarico on Texas officially banning THC: “This bill is insane. Texans aren’t going to stop smoking weed and eating edibles because politicians in Austin say so. Texans will still use THC — but instead of getting it safely from a local small business, they’ll go back to getting it from the black market. From the drug cartels. This ban is a gift to the cartels. We are now telling full-grown adults how to live their lives. This is the nanny state at its worst; this is big government at its worst. Instead of fully funding our schools, guaranteeing healthcare, or making childcare more affordable — this Legislature is focused on banning a product that gives people a little peace. We’re making people’s lives harder, not easier. I want to leave you with a quote: ‘It is time to end needless arrests and incarcerations of adults for small amounts of marijuana for personal use.’ That wasn’t a Democrat. That was President Donald Trump. To my Republican colleagues, I’m asking you to oppose the cartels, stand with President Trump, and vote no on this insane bill.”

.James Talarico: This issue of healthcare is so personal to me. When I was a perfectly healthy 28-year-old running for the Texas House, I got diagnosed with a shocking illness. I was a Democrat running in a Trump district, and so I had to do things a little differently, and at one point I decided to walk the entire length of my district — 25 miles — in the Texas heat. About halfway through, I started to feel fatigued and nauseous. I ended up throwing up a few times along the walk. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. I went to Walgreens to pick up my first 30-day supply of insulin — it cost me $684. I didn't have that kind of money, so I put it on a credit card, and I soon learned that Texans with diabetes across the state were rationing or skipping doses. Some of them were dying because of it. And so when I won that seat, I brought Democrats and Republicans together to take on Big Pharma, and we capped insulin copays in Texas at $25 per prescription.

Q: You’ve been Republicans for most of your voting lives. Who’s voting for James Talarico? Republican moms: *all raise their hands* “I like him. He was a middle school teacher in a public school in Texas, and they started cutting all his funding and he said, ‘Well, if I can’t change my school, then I’m gonna need to change my state.’ And that’s so becoming of a leader. I want a middle school teacher who’s like, hey, this is broken. Somebody needs to fix it. Why not me?” “This is not what I signed up for. Give me somebody who’s not extremist. I don’t care what party they are. I’m going to vote for whoever is the most common sense and who I think would be the most likely to protect my kids.” “You’re never going to vote for a candidate that thinks exactly like you… You need to get on the bus that’s driving closest to where you want to end up. Talarico, I find him to be pretty moderate, and I think that is telling of what’s happening in the state of Texas. The Republicans should be worried.”

.Mark Cuban: When James Talarico and I started talking about healthcare, I said, OK, I just have to ask you a question. There is a bipartisan bill proposed by Josh Hawley and Elizabeth Warren called the Breakup Big Medicine Bill. I asked James one question. When you are elected — I didn't say if, I said when you are elected — will you co-sponsor the Breakup Big Medicine Bill? Because that is key. If we can break up those big companies — the CVSs, the United, etc. — we literally could see the cost of pharmaceuticals and healthcare literally drop overnight. James said yes. So here I am — and we are going to break up Big Medicine.

Reporter: I just spoke with a 52-year-old man who said he has been voting in every election since he was 18 years old, and he has never voted for a Democrat. He believes Ken Paxton is corrupt. He will not vote for him. I said, ‘So will you vote for James Talarico?’ And he said, ‘I’m seriously considering it.’ He clearly was impressed that Talarico came here and listened to what people had to say.

Fox News melts down on live TV over Ken Paxton’s failing campaign: “WHERE IS PAXTON?! I’ve seen Mitch McConnell more than Paxton... Get out of your hole Paxton and DO SOMETHING! I can’t win this race for you! It’s not on Fox! ... Talarico is younger and has energy... THIS CANNOT HAPPEN!”

Joe Rogan tells JD Vance how much he likes and agrees with James Talarico: “I had James Talarico on the podcast, and one of the things that I think he has a really good point about… is putting the 10 Commandments in schools, I don't think that’s the right way to do it. This is a guy, Talarico, who was in seminary and is very Christian. He just thinks… [if] you're forcing your religion into other people's lives, that this is going to push people away from Christianity, rather than encourage them to pursue it.”

BREAKING: Ken Paxton’s own lawyer just endorsed James Talarico: “I defended Ken Paxton for years in the impeachment trial and in state criminal cases. But in my view, I think Ken has lost sight of his core mission, which is to represent the people of Texas. And unlike Ken, I believe that you, James, believe in unity over division and that you know how to assemble not only Democrats but Independents and Republicans and we need that right now. We need unity, we don't need any more division and that's why I'm supporting you.”

.James Talarico: If you go back and read the New Testament — even if you're not a Christian — go back and see what Jesus spends most of his time doing. It's not preaching, it's not teaching. It's healing. That is what we are called to do — whether you're religious or not — is ensure that our neighbors have the healthcare that they need, and that is gonna be the end result of this plan and the other health care policies that we're gonna fight for in Washington.

.James Talarico: For 50 years, the religious right convinced our fellow Christians that the most important issues were abortion and gay marriage—two issues that aren't mentioned in the Bible. Jesus tells us exactly how we're going to be judged: by feeding the hungry, by healing the sick, and by welcoming the stranger. Don’t tell me what you believe. Show me how you treat other people, and I’ll tell you what you believe. Jesus gave us two commandments: love God and love neighbor. There was no exception to that second commandment regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, immigration status, or religious affiliation.

.James Talarico: Something that I appreciate about you, Mark Cuban, is that you are fighting for old-school capitalism. That's not the system we have now. Now we have crony capitalism. I think we should be betting on the CEOs in their garages, not the CEOs on their mega yachts. Being pro-business can't just mean being pro big business — and that's really what it means nowadays. If you're not pro competition, you're not actually pro-business. If you're trying to protect these monopolies, you're not actually a capitalist.

Reporter: Ken Paxton has taken to calling you ‘Talafreako’ James Talarico: If Ken Paxton is worried about freaks, he should stop giving Epstein-style sweetheart deals to pedophiles. This is the guy who just released Adam Hoffman from jail, an admitted child rapist, after one of Ken Paxton’s wealthy lawyer friends got involved in the case. Ken Paxton even kept him off the sex offender registry. Adam Hoffman was supposed to serve 25 years to life, but instead he served less than a month. As of this week, he’s now back on our streets because of Ken Paxton’s corruption. Ken Paxton is the most corrupt politician in America, and it is costing Texans, it’s endangering our children, and it must end. The Epstein class has no place in Texas.

Joe Rogan: Why are you a Democrat? .James Talarico: My mother met my birth father, who had a drinking problem that sometimes led to being violent. My mom decided right then and there that she was leaving. She found a little apartment in East Austin and worked double duty at a hotel to provide for us. She saw Texas Democrats like Ann Richards, people who fought for the little guy. That was the classic Democratic Party. I asked my mom what we were, and she was like, ‘We're Democrats, because Democrats fight for the people.’ Our historical legacy is the party that fights for the little guy. That's why I'm a Democrat.
