South-South, Yoruba are never your problem. We are the two major economically viable regions in Nigeria. All other regions depend on us politically and economically. You have not benefited anything from the Southeast; all you have gotten since the colonial era and independence is oppression dem in which the Yoruba have never participated. Don’t allow people that believe and always lay claim to your land through lies and propaganda to continue shaping your political reality.

Late Professor Sophie Bọ́sẹ̀dé Olúwọlé (1935–2018), a Nigerian philosopher of Yoruba thought, devoted her life to recovering and documenting a tradition of reason long denied its place. Her work offers Yoruba people, and Africans more broadly, the means of intellectual liberation: a return to their own languages, oral philosophy, and ways of knowing. Read her.
