I was listening to the cast and crew commentary on ALIENS the other night and all Lance Henriksen says at this part is "Look at that shit". Why did they ever stop lighting movies like this.

The shot of the T-Rex wrecking a bus in THE LOST WORLD is a perfect mix of practical stunts (a real bus rigged to implode at the point of impact as the stunt performers are blown out the other side) and ILM's incredible CG work. Not to mention that beautiful night lighting.

Really underrated John Williams score is JFK, the "conspiracy" track is the one most remembered but I love how the music builds throughout this sequence.

Say what you want about it's issues story wise but it has moments like this where ILM, John Williams and Ben Burtt all collectively go God Mode in it.

94 years of age and John Williams still has it. Can't wait to see this.

Probably John Williams finest hour as far as Star Wars music goes, that choral piece is incredible.

How it looks in the movie. Look at how detailed that puppet is. Special effects crews are actual wizards man.

Joe Dante's MATINEE (1993) perfectly distils the appeal of going to the movies. John Goodman is so great in this.

It's been 46 years and the shot of the Millennium Falcon spiralling through frame towards the camera is still one of the coolest moments in #StarWars

It's early Summer 1996, you're at the movies sitting with a packed audience still munching away on your popcorn. This comes blaring out of the speakers. Life is great.

They should do something like this on The Pitt just to send "the fandom" into a death spiral.

Some of the best miniature work you'll ever see in this. Astonishing stuff.

DANTE'S PEAK (1997) Small town being invaded/destroyed by something is a trope I never get sick of and this is a great one. Look at that shot showing all the town extras.

Was watching THE FUGITIVE as one does and always love how alive this scene feels. I know I'm forever harping on about how movies don't look like movies anymore and it's because well...they don't.

If I was whoever edited this trailer for CON AIR I'd be bragging about it for the rest of my life.

Play this scene to a room full of dudes and you'll hear a pin drop.

HOOK is considered one of his lesser works and some outright hate it but it has shot blocking and lighting that look incredible.

This effect is used multiple times throughout Close Encounters and it still looks awesome 50 years later.

What a great scene, the camera pushing in on them after the reveal about the cemetery as Goldsmith's score gets really ominous is so damn good.

Hit Factory Started it again a while back and this sequence blew my mind. We can barely get people sitting in a real room these days.

That Basil Poledouris score and the sound of the flares going off would make anyone want to know more.
