Chadema Chairman, Tundu Lissu, was escorted out of the Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s Court in Dar es Salaam today, August 18, 2025 after the reading of witness statements and exhibits (committal proceedings) in the treason case against him. The case, which was heard before Principal Resident Magistrate Franco Kiswaga, has now been referred to the High Court. Lissu is facing a single charge of treason under section 39(2)(d) of the Penal Code, alleged to have been committed on April 3, 2025 in Dar es Salaam.

Prof Mohamed Janabi has highlighted his extensive experience in the health sector, leadership roles, and ability to attract funding as key strengths in his bid for the position of WHO Africa Director. With over 30 years of experience in the health sector, Prof Janabi has held leadership positions at the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI) and Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH). He has also served as a health and nutrition advisor to the President of Tanzania.
