Shaq apologized to Charles Barkley for doubting him on Jalen Brunson being the greatest free agency signing in NBA history. “Charles, I owe you an apology. You've been saying for the past two years that Brunson has been the best free agency signing ever. Now, it is. Now it becomes that.”

Stephen A. Smith begs Donald Trump to stay away from Madison Square Garden for Game 3 of the NBA Finals: “He’s coming to Game three of the Finals, and I don’t want him there. It has nothing to do with politics, policy, or anything like that. It has everything to do with him disrupting and contributing at the same time to the chaos that’s going to be existing at Madison Square Garden. If it were Barack Obama coming to the Garden, I would say, ‘Stay home.’ Stay at the White House… I have been covering sports for over 30 years. And I’m telling you right now, come Monday, for Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden, I expect to see an environment I have never seen in my entire career covering sports."

Mitch Johnson had a powerful message to the fanbase after losing the NBA Finals: "I’m glad that they’re sad. I’m glad that they get mad when we lose or want us to be better, that’s a part of being a fan. And the support, and we feel the love and the support from everybody in the 210 and across the world, we have the best fans in the world. And again, we’ve been at it for nine months, we wanted to win this series like the other ones and we didn't, and we’ll be just the same people. We’re not going to flinch, blink, waver. We’ll be here until whenever we get the schedule out and figure out our next game and we’ll be, we’ll be better."

Spike Lee explains why Knicks fans travel so well and take over opposing arenas: "These [MSG] seats cost an arm and a leg. It is more affordable to drive down to Philly and come back. It's more affordable a roundtrip ticket to Atlanta, a roundtrip ticket to Cleveland... That's why we travel, because it's cheaper."

ESPN's Tim Legler on Chet Holmgren’s Game 7 performance "There is no denying he was shook, he was rattled. It affected the way he was processing the game, and it completely took away his aggressiveness. He started to look like a guy that was afraid of failure, and when you start to play that way as a professional athlete, that’s exactly what it’s going to look like. You don't take chances anymore. You'd rather play it safe and disappear than to try and have it not work out — drive at Wemby and have him block your shot, try to get there in time to stop Wemby at the rim and he get dunked on again. It's better not to try than to have that happen again. That's exactly what he looked like." (Via ALL NBA Podcast)

Michael Wilbon crushed the Spurs after blowing a 29-point lead to the Knicks: "It's the dumbest stretch of basketball at a championship level I've ever seen... They could have done the basketball equivalent of taking a knee and run the clock out... instead they are hoisting threes. It’s the biggest choke I have seen in any sport at the championship level."

Draymond Green addresses his controversial exchange with Hana 🧡 🤣 "When I told that girl 'I’ll crush them kids,' I looked at their picture. I was talking about 'I’ll fry them kids,' like I’ll roast them. I was in the spirit of roasting — I had just finished the Kevin Hart roast… I got little girls, man. I don't put my hands on. You get these people talking shit on Threads, and then you go look at their profile picture and it’s like, 'This is you talking to me like this?' This lady had this banner of these two dirty kids on her profile. I’m like, 'You can’t talk to me like this and you got two little dirty kids right here, and you’re calling me the B-word?' When me and my boys we say like, 'Oh my god, he cooked her,' or 'he destroyed her,' we say, 'Oh my god, he crushed her.' So when I was talking to the lady, I’m like, 'You should stop before I crush those dirty ass kids in your banner.' I’m in the spirit of roasting, and I’m about to crush these kids if you call me another B-word." (Via Kevin O'Connor )

Tim Legler pushes back on Mike Brown’s complaints about the officiating in Game 3 “I'm not seeing a one-way whistle. There's certainly going to be calls that are going to be missed either way. Here's the thing: this is so difficult to officiate because of the amount of physicality that's taking place all over the floor. So sometimes, and I said it on the air in one of the calls, it just seemed like a little selective on a particular play that you see a lot. Very difficult job for these officials. I don't think we were sitting there saying, 'Man, the Knicks are getting the short end of this over and over and over again.' Certainly you can point to certain calls throughout the game, but you could do the same thing for San Antonio.”

Chris Webber crushed the Spurs after their historic Game 4 collapse against the Knicks: "That was just probably the dumbest game, and I'd like to say most arrogant game, that's ever been played with the stakes this high. It just shows how you really have to have on-the-court feel and not just analytics, because I don't think analytics would tell you to shoot the ball eight times in a row if you miss, and taking shots early in the shot clock. As a basketball purist, what San Antonio did kind of is unforgivable as a team. You have so many players that can make so many decisions. For no one to say, 'Hey, let's get a good shot.' Or, 'By the way, we have the tallest player on the floor on our team, let's go inside.' It just shows that there needs to be some common sense along with the wonderful skill that's in this game." Jeremy Lin says "inexperience" and "fatigue" completely ruined the Spurs in the final 30 seconds of Game 2: "The Spurs have so much heart. 14-0 run to come back into the game, but the last 30 seconds, just so much inexperience — whether you want to call it youth, whether you want to call it fatigue, it just wasn't it. The first play: another isolation for Wemby with 30 seconds, tough shot over Mitchell Robinson. Then you have a turnover, then you have a foul. I mean, they had the game where you have the ball with 12 seconds left, it's a tie game, there's no way you should be able to ever lose that game. And so to me, if the roles were reversed, the Knicks get the ball, what do they do? They will immediately find Brunson and he will immediately find the mismatch that he wants. But the Spurs, when they get the ball, they're not really sure. So Wemby's dribbling up, Castle's not even looking for it, they don't know who's going to take charge, is there a timeout to be called or not. It just seemed, as Wemby said, very blurry."

Jeremy Lin heavily criticized Mitch Johnson and the Spurs’ fourth-quarter offense in Game 1, questioning the heavy reliance on Wemby isolations and the team's rotation choices: "The focus for sure is the second half where they were minus-17, but specifically even in the fourth quarter, I didn't love the late-game offensive game plan. It was too much Wemby ISO. It just seemed like everything was difficult, everything was hard, everything was contested. Can we get him in more spontaneous, impulsive actions? Can we get him in some pin-downs? Can he set more screens? Can guards come set screens for him? It felt like every time down the floor they were giving him the ball, and KAT was doing a great job of playing defense, and Wemby was tired. So how are they able to create different actions so that the Knicks aren't seeing the same thing every single time? Another piece that's really important is Keldon Johnson, who played only eight minutes. Sixth Man of the Year, a lot of minutes went to Harrison Barnes. I'm not sure what's happening there, but there is going to be a different level of production that needs to be had from other players stepping in. Dylan Harper obviously had an amazing game, but we need the Keldon Johnsons and obviously De'Aaron Fox to be able to step up. I do think there's a lot to be said for in terms of how big that moment was for the Spurs."

Chess GOAT Magnus Carlsen called out the NBA app for showing spoilers during the Western Conference Finals. “Whomever is responsible for the NBA app, we have one of the best series in years going on right now in the Western Conference Finals, and when people have 'no spoilers' on in the app, they expect no spoilers. So, do better.”

Kendrick Perkins says Knicks fans are acting like they are at a funeral because they aren't used to winning: “Seriously, like everybody walking around this morning, the energy level is low. It's like we're at a funeral. But I had to remind myself that it's an organization and it's a fan base that's not accustomed to being here. You know what I mean? Because when you're accustomed to being in the NBA Finals and you're actually up 2-1 in a series, you don't just have these emotional lows like at this point.”

Kendrick Perkins says Jalen Brunson completely "exposed" and "disrespected" Victor Wembanyama in Game 4: "The Defensive Player of the Year, in this series 1-on-1 has been getting exposed. The Defensive Player of the Year last night in the second half got disrespected. Jalen Brunson in the second half called the Defensive Player of the Year in 21 of the actions and picked on him. He scored on him 3 out of the 5 times that Victor was the primary defender."

The Brunson camp reportedly "laughed" at the Mavericks when Dallas tried to offer him a 4-year, $55M extension near the 2022 trade deadline, per Marc Stein "The Brunson camp basically laughed at them and said, 'Uh, we'll take our chances in free agency now, you guys had your chance.' ... The Mavs still had the option at that point of picking up the phone and saying, 'Jalen, we completely screwed this up, we are deeply sorry, we've disrespected you, we want to make this right, we're going to offer you 150 over five.' They even could have gone to 175 over five... They had the wherewithal to give Jalen Brunson a blow-away offer and they didn't do it." "If they re-signed him, they either could have kept him with Luka or their phone would have been ringing off the hook with trade offers and they would have had so much better optionality... losing Jalen Brunson for nothing when you combine that with how the Luka trade turned out, like I said, where I live there is a lot of pain when the Knicks are on television."
