Ben Shelton after losing to Zverev in the U.S. Open final “First and most importantly I wanna thank God. My successes are a gift. The failures are a gift. Being here playing in front of you guys is a gift. Sascha, congrats on these two weeks man. Your 2nd Grand Slam title. Two in one year. You’re one of the very best players in the world. Maybe the best player in the world this year. What you’re doing is incredible. The way you’re serving, moving, and playing. You work harder than anyone I know. You put more hours on the court than anyone I know. You and your team do things the right way. Sincerely happy for you guys to hold this title. It’s been a long time coming here.”

Gael Monfils, who is retiring at the end of year, says his next career after tennis will be in finance "I have a new chapter coming. Next year. I'll be working in finance. I already signed to work in wealth management in a Swiss company. My next chapter is looking more in an office and working in finance. I will always have a look on tennis because I love the sport, my wife's playing. I don't think next year I will do so much about tennis. I'll be around no matter what, for Elina a little bit, but I'll be more of a finance guy." (via US Open press)

Carlos Alcaraz says he’s going to take some long breaks, 1 to 2 months long, & start missing some tournaments because it’s impossible to keep up with the tennis calender, ‘We’re seeing a lot of players getting injured’ “Seeing how tight the calendar is, obviously I don’t want to have this break because of an injury. But in the future, I’m gonna take some breaks... some long breaks. Maybe not 4 months, but 1 month, 2 months… start missing some tournaments because it’s impossible to play them all. They’re adding more important tournaments. In a way, they’re making us play…” “We’re seeing a lot of players getting injured, a lot of players getting tired. If they don’t do anything about it, we’re gonna see it even more in the future.” (via US Open Press)

Zverev was asked if he’s the best player in the world right now, ‘With Sinner being injured & Alcaraz coming back from injury… right now, probably yes… 4 or 5 months ago when both were healthy, I was losing to Jannik all the time. If everyone is healthy, I think Jannik is still ahead’ “Do you think you’re the best tennis player in the world right now?” Zverev: “I don’t know how to answer that. You have to take everything into consideration. With Jannik Sinner being injured and Carlos Alcaraz coming back from injury after 4 months… right now, this moment, probably yes. Both of them healthy and both at the top of their game, maybe not. But if we say right right now with Jannik being injured and Carlos coming back from injury, maybe. 4 or 5 months ago when both of them were healthy, I wasn’t. I was losing to Jannik all the time. If everyone is healthy, I think Jannik is still ahead. It’s as simple as that.” (via US Open Press)

Elena Rybakina thinks her New York Yankees hat is from a basketball team 😂 “You’re wearing a cap from the New York Yankees. What story is there behind that cap choice? What do you consider to be your relationship with New York and its fans?” Elena: “I think you asked me about the cap last time also” 😂 Moderator: “He’s consistent” 😂 Elena: “I can’t say I’m following a lot basketball. But I definitely watch sometimes. For me it’s just a hat which I like 😂. Nothing very special about it.” “How about your relationship with New York?” Elena: “Well now it’s getting better and better. Before US Open, I usually don’t perform that well. Now I feel like this year it’s the best for now out of all the years I played here. I like New York and it’s an amazing city. For me maybe just for 2 or 3 weeks, because after it might be too much. But I really love the crowd here. I enjoy playing on stadiums like this.” ❤️ (via US Open Press)

Marta Kostyuk was asked about the possibility of Russian athletes being allowed into the 2028 Olympics “My thoughts are that it’s terrible. I think it’s very very far from fair play, for all the countries involved here. Not just for Ukraine. I 100% don’t agree with this decision. I feel like a lot of people spoke out on this issue and they obviously don’t agree as well. I don’t think anything is going to change. I want to just go out there and hopefully beat every single Russian I play in Olympics, and that’s it.”

Maja Chwalinska after beating Maria Sakkari to reach 1st WTA 1000 SF in Wuhan “Nǐ hǎo everyone. Thank you all for coming and cheering for us. You support women’s tennis, so thank you all so much. Hope to see you tomorrow… cheering for me of course” 😂 “I’m very happy. It was such a tough battle today. Such a physical match. I, of course, expected a very tough match against Maria. I played her twice already. Both occasions were very very tough. It wasn’t different today. Sorry, my English… I’m so tired. It’s terrible 😂 but yeah I’m very happy” ❤️

Novak Djokovic looks very emotional down 1-3 in the 5th set against Navone at the US Open. Definitely in pain physically, but these also look like emotional tears. 4+ hours at 39 years old. The New York crowd is trying to give him a push for another heroic comeback. 🥹

Coco Gauff after beating Jessica Pegula in the Cincinnati final “Where is she? Oh right here. 😂 first I wanna congratulate Jess. You’re an incredible player. That goes without saying. Playing you is always tough. Today, all the balls were going in on my side 😂. But I don’t like seeing you on the other side of the court. But I like playing with you. But yeah, I just wanted to say congratulations. You’re an incredible person and player. Congrats to your team. You guys are also incredible people. One of the best teams on tour. I’d also just like to thank Jess. When I first came on tour, she was one of the few players that was nice to me. That’s always stuck a long way with me and my family. I have so much respect for you. It’s an honor to share the court with you once again. Hopefully we can run it back a couple times." ❤️

Ben Shelton on facing Carlos Alcaraz next at the U.S. Open Sam Querrey: “What’s it gonna take to beat Carlos Alcaraz?” Ben: “Special tennis. I think the level he’s been playing at is really really impressive. To not play for 5 months and come out and do what he’s done so far this tournament has been superhuman. We’re happy to have him back on tour. He lights up the stadium every time he plays. I think it’s gonna be fireworks on Tuesday night. I hope you guys come back, because I’m ready to go.” 😤
