Put this together as best I could ... Cade Cavalli claimed Contreras demonstrated poor baseball etiquette and cut in front of him as he walked off the mound to end the first, so here is the best recreation I can give you based on the broadcasts ... Boston TV (NESN) was focused on Contreras ... Washington broadcast (via MLB.TV) focused on Cavalli ... the last sequence was spliced together to try to give you a proper timeline ... it all started with Jarren Duran's flyout to end the first inning:

Interesting exchange between Bryce Harper and Aroldis Chapman last night - and in a good way. Before the at-bat starts, Harper acknowledges Chapman twice with a subtle nod. (My guess is that Chapman unknowingly looked away the first time, so Harper did it again.) And then, after the strikeout, Chapman nods back just before walking off the mound. Feels like mutual respect between two of the game's better showmen.

A quick look at the ninth-inning at-bat by Roman Anthony last night - eight pitches in all. A couple of things to note: * The first two called strikes came on steals, when Anthony allowed David Hamilton to advance. * The hit had an exit velocity of slightly more than 80 mph, which means the analytics nerds probably see it as a failed at-bat, which it wasn't. In fact, it was big time. Believe your eyes.
