Waiting in the lounge in Nairobi airport and only two other Indians besides me. Both are talking loudly non stop on their cell phones since 15 minutes. A man and a woman. In a premium lounge! These are well to do people. What’s wrong with us as a nation. Why are we so ill mannered. Don’t we realize that we are disturbing others. And giving a bad name to our country? PS: not trying to shame anyone in particular, just saying we need to address this issue. But how?

On PVNR Flyover in Hyderabad the speed limit of 60 kmph is quite strictly enforced by radar guns etc. These people overtaking the rest of us going at 60 are probably unaware and will soon be getting E-challans of over Rs.1000 ;) E challans and electronic enforcement is on the rise- please don't break speed limits and other traffic offences just because there are no cops around. The eye in the sky is always watching you... #Roadsafety

In USA only 48% of all driver license applicants eventually get a license. More than half get rejected! In India all 100% get it, most of whom don't deserve it. And ignorant vulnerable bikers pay the highest price for it. 44% of all road deaths in India are bikers- many of those candidates you see here squeezing past a large van without waiting a few seconds for their own lives. ZERO RISK PERCEPTION. Is it morally acceptable that we issue licences to earn revenue but eventually let them die on the roads because we didn't prepare & test them enough? Isn't it better we eliminate bad drivers at the RTA rather than on the roads? Better driving can only come from Driver Education and rigorous testing. Empty grounds for license testing is killing lakhs of Indians each year. When will our RTA wake up to this reality? MORTHINDIA Nitin Gadkari #RoadSafety

In India patience is in huge shortage. When joining the roadway you are supposed to wait/ yield to traffic flowing on the main road before you can join safely. They have right-of-way. What is your permissible waiting period after which you barge in? 10 seconds, 20, 30? Suggestion: As long as it takes. If you can't find a safe gap to make right just make left turn (easier) go till next junction make a U-turn and come back. #Roadsafety

There is a traffic cop and traffic Marshall stationed permanently at Dubai International airport to regulate Pedestrian Crossings, and traffic in general. No confusion, no honking. Why cannot Indian airports do this simple thing? No rocket science 💁🏽♂️ Our airports are a cacophony of honking and stress… RGIA Hyderabad Hyderabad Traffic Police Cyberabad Traffic Police

Visiting a small town in Germany, called Heilbronn near Stuttgart for a Suco distributors meeting. Observe this scene, there are pedestrians, trains, buses, bicycles & (less of) cars, all coexisting for fantastic mobility. This is what India needs. We have become a car and motorcycle oriented country and have to change quickly or our cities are doomed. Nitin Gadkari Narendra Modi

Please don't drive with Hazard lights in rain (when in motion). Use hazard lights only if your vehicle fails, and you are stopped at the side. Hazard lights should typically be used only on stationary vehicles or it can confuse people behind you. Hazard lights block indicators and may cause accidents when changing lanes, turnings etc. #RoadSafety

Road rules Quiz: (Rule: Solid yellow line means no crossing, and no turning over it to make right turn) Driving through small towns of Kenya where traffic is no different than India. But watch the center yellow line. Every now and then it is broken for a few feet, then solid again. Why? . . . . Ans: To allow private entrances to enter /cross the road. In my residential colony in Hyderabad the authorities painted double solid lines throughout the Main -technically not allowing anyone to get in or out of their homes unless it’s to the left! Why can’t our authorities pay attention to such little things? #RoadSafety
