So much respect to Cape Verde. Smallest country ever by population (525,000) to make it to World Cup knockout stage. Lost but still leave as legends. Vozinha and Messi post game.

Ok, this is actually insane. Apple Maps lets you zoom inside the Apple Park visitor centre to see the Apple Park miniature display model…and you can even see the cafe barista if you keep zooming:

Best part of “Interstellar” is still the fact that Christopher Nolan spent $100K to plant 500 acres of real corn in Alberta (instead of using CGI to recreate a field). Then, sold the corn for a profit after filming. Remains most profitable commodities trade in Hollywood history.

Wild excerpts from Apple vs. OpenAI lawsuit: “After leaving Apple, Mr. Liu failed to return an Apple-issued work laptop that he had previously authenticated to Apple’s network. In a message left on a former colleague’s Apple-issued work laptop he said, ‘I still have another computer’ on which he planned to access Apple information. While employed by OpenAI, Mr. Liu also exploited a rare, previously unknown authentication bug to access Apple’s shared network folders. He celebrated his improper access, exclaiming in a message left on his colleague’s Apple-issued work laptop ‘LOL’ and that it was ‘so funny.’ Then, over several weeks, while developing hardware for OpenAI, Mr. Liu surreptitiously accessed and downloaded dozens of Apple’s confidential hardware-related files, including voluminous, detailed information about unreleased products, engineering presentations, technical specifications, and proprietary project data.”

A bunch of Swatch boutiques stayed closed and cancelled the Audemars Piguet Royal Pop launch. Lines out of control at boutiques around the world (see Dubai, Milan, Tokyo below). Swatch official accounts posted its “not a limited edition” so that people can chill out. Wild.

Apple celebrates its 50th birthday next week, which is a reminder that “Forrest Gump” has Hollywood’s best angel investment ever: Gump and Lt. Dan early in Apple. They get to Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak before the April 1976 launch and prior to first official $250k check from Mike Markkula, who briefly owned 1/3rd of Apple for his investment. That would value at Apple at $750k. Since Gump and Lt. Dan were unsophisticated shrimp guys instead of tech investors, they probably got pinched on valuation by Jobs and paid $100k for 10% of Apple. That would be worth $180m at the Apple IPO in 1980 ($1.8B market cap). An 1,800x return in 5 years. Gump is a loyal dude so probably sold everything when Jobs was booted in 1985. On the other hand, he thought Apple was a fruit company and is financially illiterate…so Gump is likely still holding that stake, which is now worth $300B+ (my calculator broke trying to figure out the ROI).

Holy crap. United Airlines now sells entire 3-seat rows in economy that can turn into a bed. Can’t imagine any parents with kids under 5 picking another airline if given choice.
