This is a big lesson for young pitchers!! Just because a pitch “worked in the lab” doesn’t mean it’s ready for the game. Bullpens are controlled. Games are chaotic. Execution under stress exposes everything... command, shape, conviction. Your stuff can look better in bullpens… or worse. But it will probably be different. Don’t lose what makes you great. Bravo to Crochet & the Red Sox for keeping the main thing the main thing... ..makes it a little easier to make that decision when you've got stuff like this

Here's something that'll mess with your head... 2026 MLB data: In hitter's counts, pitchers have a 91% success rate (foul, called strike, BIP out, whiff, or K) in the zone... In pitcher's counts? 88% Weird, right? Pitchers are more successful when they're behind. Even counts? 92% success The Truth: you have the advantage in every single count. The number barely moves What actually changes is damage. HR% gets cut in half when you're ahead. Hitters make more contact, but it's weak Don't overcomplicate it. Because you will make a good pitch, and still give up hits. You'll make a bad one, and still get outs Just execute. Giving up hits was never in your control anyway
