Today we celebrate three historic milestones: the day on the English calendar when David Ben Gurion declared Israel’s independence, the 8th anniversary of President Donald J. Trump Trump’s courageous establishment of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem, and Yom Yerushalayim — the liberation and reunification of Israel’s indigenous and indivisible capital under Israeli sovereignty. Beginning this evening is Yom Yerushalayim - also known as Jerusalem Day. The United States is proud to join our close ally Israel ישראל in celebrating the 58th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem. President Donald J. Trump reaffirmed the historic connection of the Jewish people to Jerusalem that goes back over 3,500 years when he had the moral clarity to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's eternal capital and then move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem.
