The garment factory at Kitalya Mini Max Prison is a modern industrial hub where inmates mass-produce uniforms for staff and prisoners through pattern drafting, industrial cutting, high-speed stitching and computerized embroidery for logos and badges. By mastering these technical processes and industrial machine maintenance, inmates gain high-demand expertise for the textile sector. These skills are key for successful rehabilitation, as they provide a marketable trade for post-release employment, reduce recidivism and instill a professional work ethic while achieving national self-sufficiency for the Uganda Prisons Service.
