I asked this FIVE months ago because it was clear that rural and coastal pubs and businesses are struggling under Labour’s record taxes and costs. Why has it taken Labour so long to realise the damage done by their high taxes? If Labour really cared about rural communities, they will match the Conservatives’ plan to SCRAP business rates for our high streets and stop taxing local businesses out of existence. To do this, they will have to cut welfare spending. But we know Labour MPs are only interested in raising taxes to pay benefits to others.

We’re working to get 800 new ambulances on the road & create 5,000 extra permanent hospital beds to free up hospital capacity and cut waiting times. Yesterday I saw the innovative London Ambulance Service system control centre in action which helps patients get care as fast as possible ⤵️

The Health Sec described the 35% pay demand from the Junior Doctors’ Committee as reasonable, at a cost of an additional £3bn each year. He must come clean about if he will ask the Chancellor to raise taxes, or if she will be asking him to cut frontline services to pay for it.

Labour’s ‘EU-reset’ will mean giving control of UK food laws to the EU, lower animal welfare standards and higher food prices as UK food producers have to compete with EU subsidies. We will be rule-takers, not rule-makers. When Labour negotiate, Britain loses.

After 14 months of relentless campaigning, Labour has been forced into a partial u-turn on the Family Farm Tax. Throughout this difficult time, the Conservatives have consistently led the fight in parliament and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with protesting farmers AGAINST the tax. Rural communities should never have been put through such levels of distress, pain and panic.

Labour’s choices will scar our landscapes and nature forever. Ed Miliband’s unrealistic net zero targets will industrialise our undeveloped countryside with pylons, enormous substations, solar panel estates and wind turbines. They will destroy people’s homes, our cherished landscapes and nature, as well as prime agricultural land. In Louth & Horncastle, we understand all too well the damage this will bring to communities and our landscape. The Conservatives and I will continue to stand up for our countryside, defending local voices and protecting the character of the landscapes which feed and encapsulate Great Britain.

With record numbers of farms closing under Labour, President Trump has explained why the Family Farm Tax is a bad tax - it breaks farms and comes at a terrible human cost. Starmer has refused to listen to UK farmers or admit the human cost. Let’s hope he will listen to President Donald J. Trump.

.Conservatives have campaigned for the last year to AXE Labour’s Family Farm and Family Business Taxes. Last night, 1 Labour MP voted to AXE these taxes. He has now been suspended from Labour. The Conservatives know what’s right: we will AXE these taxes when back in government.
