It took WCK and Nepal Scouts teams two days of traversing some of the most challenging terrain imaginable to reach Khadga Bhanjyang, Nepal. Muddy conditions are so severe that the supply truck had to be pulled from the mud. But our teams made it. With the expertise and local knowledge of Nepal Scouts, WCK delivered kitchen supplies to this community, where families are now helping unpack and set up a community kitchen together. Checking in from Kathmandu, Nepal with WCK's John. 📍 Some communities have been cut off since the flash floods struck—unreachable by road or helicopter. So WCK assembled a team of experienced explorers who will drive as far as the terrain allows before trekking the rest of the way on foot. They're carrying essential medical supplies and meals, because no community should be left behind just because it's hard to reach. The knowledge we gain from this expedition will also help us map out areas where helicopters can deliver additional supplies—expanding our reach even further. We will keep you posted. #ChefsForNepal

Over the weekend, with support from Nepal Scouts, a truckload of WCK kitchen supplies arrived at a school in Rasuwa, Nepal—and getting it there took five hours to travel just 7 miles. That's what access looks like in the hardest-hit areas after this week's devastating floods. WCK is setting up a kitchen at the school to prepare meals as close as possible to the families who need them most. Alongside our partner HEAL Palestine, WCK teams shared the joy of cooking with families at the Al-Shati Boy’s School shelter in Gaza. These displaced families have no kitchens to cook on their own, so we brought the kitchen to them—filled with the familiar smells of home. #ChefsForGaza

Sonam, director of Pumpernickel Bakery in Kathmandu, and his team have been baking fresh buns through the night for WCK. Sandwiches — or the local equivalent — are one of the first things we carry into a disaster zone. We never go into a community without food to offer while we listen to what people need. These are made with sriracha, cheese, meat, and pickles: portable, and suited to the local palate.
