Courage stronger that fear🔹Hope stronger than despair🔹 On 1 Aug 1944, the Warsaw Rising began. Driven by an indomitable will to be free, the Poles rose and fought valiantly against the German occupiers. Civilians perished in mass executions and under a continuous hail of bombs and shells. It is estimated that between 150,000 and 200,000 people lost their lives. Across the Vistula the Soviet army halted its advance; when its forces finally entered the city in 1945, Warsaw lay utterly razed—reduced to a wilderness of ruins.

We owe them so much. History is a continuum, those who fought to restore 🇵🇱independence after WWI set an example for #WarsawRising participants and the next generations. #GloryToTheHeroes
