There is absolutely no consideration for the safety of female players on the field.” Our Head of Advocacy Stephanie Bastiaan spoke to Rita Panahi on News24 Australia about the safety concerns raised by multiple clubs regarding a trans-identifying male player in the Adelaide women’s footy league and how the AFL must urgently amend its policy to ensure female-only sport. 📒 We sent our comprehensive report, ‘A Fair Playing Field: Protecting Women’s Single-Sex Sport’, to MPs and sporting organisations in 2022, including the AFL and Sports Minister Anika Wells MP. We have also written to AFL CEO Andrew Dillon and Minister Wells, as well as Women's Minister Katy Gallagher, this week in light of these developments.
