My invitation is simple: Give the people of Iowa what they deserve— the opportunity to hear an honest, in-depth discussion about our visions, solutions, and policies for the future of our state. This past March, I stopped by Rob Sand’s office and asked him if he’d be willing to participate in a series of Lincoln-Douglas-style debates across Iowa if I won the Republican primary. He happily agreed and even gave me a high five. Fast forward to today... After winning the Republican primary in June, I’m still waiting for Rob to honor that commitment. I want to have an open, substantive conversation about our competing ideas for Iowa. I believe this debate format would not only better serve Iowa voters, but also set an example for how campaigns across the country can engage in respectful, meaningful dialogue. No fluff. No spin. No 30-second sound bites. Just two candidates. Real conversation. Honest debate. Let the people decide. Your move Rob Sand.

One of the first pieces of legislation I’d like to pass in office is an Iowa First Food Freedom bill. An Iowa First Food Freedom Bill is about putting Iowa farmers, Iowa families, and Iowa-grown food first. The goal isn’t just to make it easier to grow food— it’s to make it easier for Iowans to eat food grown right here at home.

Government works best when power is closest to the people. Emergency powers should be reserved for true emergencies— not open-ended authority with little oversight. Limiting those powers strengthens accountability and protects the constitutional balance between the executive, legislature, and the people. The same principle applies to local government. The people of Mahaska County don’t face the same challenges as those in Palo Alto County. Decisions about local priorities are often best made by the communities that know them best. Less power concentrated at the top. More trust in local leaders. More accountability to the people. That’s what it means to put Iowans and #IowaFirst.

It's the story of men like James Harlan - who fought to defend the land that Iowans built from the speculators who tried to take it. I am running for Governor to carry on that legacy: Of Iowans who run for office to always put the people over the special interests.

So today, I’m issuing a challenge to Randy: four debates, one in each congressional district. Let’s take our ideas directly to the people of Iowa. If you’re not willing to confirm debates by next week, I’ll head to Rob Sand’s office and challenge him to debate instead. Iowans deserve to hear from the candidates. Let’s do this.
