Seal Sakura 🌸 (formerly known as Stamppot) came to us after being attacked by a dog on the beach. 😭 Sakura had surgery a week ago on a wound to her hind flipper, that’s why we’re serving her food like this. Will you keep your fingers crossed for her recovery too? 🤞

We also displayed a small selection of the submitted designs in the “inspiration wall” in our center 🎈

It’s been almost a year since our seals became famous in Japan. 🇯🇵 To celebrate our “Japanniversary” we are launching a special auction with original Pieterburen seal pool tiles! 💙 The auction starts at July 31, but you can already take a look at:

Meet Bonsai 🥺🪴🦭 She's very small and still has part of her lanugo coat. With common seals, it means they were born prematurely, making them more vulnerable than other pups. 😢 At the WEC we're giving her a second chance. You can adopt Bonsai here: ❤️‍🩹

Today pups Unagi, Yokozuna (formerly Sumo) and Sjakie (formerly Udon) moved outside! ☀️ Another step closer to returning to the Wadden Sea 💪

Bonsai can now eat fish all by herself! 🪴🐟 As of this morning, Bonsai is officially a self eater. That means she can now eat her daily fish without any help from our caretakers. 😋 🐟 Donate a portion of fish for her here:

Bonsai's first time eating fish 🐟 Bonsai is making great progress: she’s getting stronger every day, spending a little longer practising her swimming, and last Tuesday she even ate her very first fish! Step by step, we’re preparing her for an independent life in the wild. 🦭

This is Unagi 😢 During a 24h observation she lost 500 grams: her mother was no longer caring for her. 💔 She is only 7-10 days old. Without a mother, she had no chance of survival, which meant rescue was the only option. 🙏 You can adopt her here:

Meet pup Udon! 🍜🦭 Udon arrived on 11 June. Every summer, we rescue and care for around 65 seal pups. Providing them with the care they need costs us around €8,884 each season. 💙 Donate here:

Dropje’s very first swim! She might look a little lost, that’s because it is quite overwhelming for a young pup! 💦 Everything is new: the water, the movements, the swimming. We can even see that she’s starting to lose some of her lanugo coat, a sign that she’s growing. 💛

Sad news: seal Tangle has passed away. 😢 He was found entangled in a fishing net and, despite days of care, he was too weak to recover. A heartbreaking reminder of the impact of waste in nature. 🌊🦭 Please share his story to prevent this from happening again.
