It’s worth remembering that Jayce’s perspective on Hextech gradually changes after he steps into politics. In the narrative, Mel represents his political trajectory, while Viktor embodies his original academic ideal of improving lives through Hextech. The timing of the sex scene alongside dying Viktor’s deterioration isn’t random. It reinforces the idea that Jayce is moving further into politics while his original vision is slipping away. It reads as intentional /narrative symbolism/, not an attack on any character. Wrote this post because I saw someone complaining about Arcane writers being shitty for showing Viktor in the sex scene… which of course I do not think so. I also came across this TikTok edit of this one scene that occurs after Mel suggests the idea of weaponizing Hextech, and it made me reflect on it again. The scene shows that Viktor remains firm in their original Hextech vision, while Jayce begins to falter.
