After months of working on this project, the long days, the unexpected hiccups, the constant race against time, seeing “Skyward” come to life last night was honestly one of those moments that just stay with you. It’s a monumental piece by Ezequiel Pini (Six N. Five) , commissioned by the public government of Abu Dhabi for Manar Art Public Art Abu Dhabi , but once you see it out there in the desert… it becomes something else entirely. Honestly can’t stop admiring how, as an artist, he pushes the boundaries of what’s possible every single time. It looks like a kind of magical portal, standing quietly in the middle of the sand. There’s this beautiful contrast between the physical world, the earth, the stone, all these elements that carry thousands of years of history and the digital side of the piece, with its delicate, floating constellations. Somehow the two speak to each other, and you feel caught right in the middle of that conversation. It’s the kind of place that makes you stop for a second, breathe a little deeper, and let your mind wander. Watching people walk toward the installation, fall silent, get lost in their own thoughts, it was incredibly moving. You could almost watch them start to dream. It’s moments like this that remind me why I’ll never stop believing in the power of digital art and supporting this entire movement.
