Democrats used to feel culturally relevant. We were the party of football dads, union halls, and mainstream American life. It doesn’t have to stay this way though. With the right candidate, we can rebuild that coalition. Obama understood this instinctively.

That Trump is losing support on immigration and whether it could hurt or help Dems depends on what the message is - Dems should go back to this and fill the vacuum with common sense reform, not pie in the sky ideas, if not support for Trump like ideas will come back

A lot of people on here act like folks who stayed home and didn't vote for Democrats because of their chaotic immigration system were racist or hated migrants. But many of those people were working-class Black and Latino voters who felt the firsthand impacts of a messy system.
