A personal letter from the Prime Minister of Israel; Benjamin Netanyahu - בנימין נתניהו acknowledging the depth of research in my book. An invitation to serve as “Chief Guest” at the Ambassador’s residence. And a conversation the world has avoided for far too long. Last evening was way more than being ceremonial. It was confrontational too. At the residence of Israel’s Ambassador to India 🇮🇱 Reuven Azar , I spoke about what polite history chose to suppress: the exodus of nearly one million Jews from Arab lands and Iran, the Farhud pogrom of 1941, and the ideological alliance between Nazi Germany and Islamist Arab leadership; an alliance that did not end with the war, but was simply left untried. My book, “Hitler: The Proclaimed Messiah of the Palestinian Cause”, about which also I spoke was written to rupture a moral lie. A lie where genocide is remembered selectively, where collaborators are reframed as nationalists, and where Jewish suffering outside Europe is erased altogether. The archival record I spent my four years in, did not permit such comfort. It made me document radio broadcasts calling for extermination, recruitment drives for Hitler’s war, coordination with the SS, and pogroms carried out with local enthusiasm; not coercion. Haj Amin al-Husseini was not a footnote as he has been made to appear like. Neither he was incidental, nor was he misunderstood. He was an ideological ally of the Final Solution. The failure to prosecute him; and others like him; was not neutrality. It was moral evasion. And moral evasion has consequences. It did not close history’s wounds; it infected them. What was left unresolved returned as denial, radicalism, and a politics built on grievance sanctified as virtue. I am humbled by the acknowledgement of this work through a personal letter from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu - בנימין נתניהו, conveyed to me by Ambassador Reuven Azar. But I do not take this moment merely as an honour. I take it as a responsibility to be the messenger of truth— long hidden. Because when collaborators escape judgment, they are reborn as icons. And when pogroms are forgotten, they return as slogans like “from river to sea…”. When guilt is deferred, it re-emerges as fanaticism like October 7. And when truth is edited, violence learns to speak the language of justice.
