“The Chair of the Sheku Bayoh Public Inquiry has resigned. The family are devastated by the decision of Lord Bracadale, a judge who treated them with compassion & respect. Over 10 years ago, Sheku died in police hands & his family have fought for the truth and justice ever since. The last 3 years of evidence at the Inquiry exposed the truth of what happened to Sheku, the systemic failures, incompetence & an abject failure to investigate racism & the devastating, deadly force used on an unarmed black man. For the Bayoh family, an unholy trinity of the Police, SPF & Crown Office have tried their very best to shut down this Inquiry, but they cannot hide from the truth. 4th Nov 1998, Surjit Singh Chhokar was murdered in a brutal racist attack in Lanarkshire, it took 18 years of campaigning, 2 failed trials, a change in law & trial in 2016 2finally get justice-The dead cannot cry out for justice, but it is the duty of the living to do so✊🏿✊🏼✊🏻🏴
