I love how ATLA depicts the full side of effects of genocide. It wasnt just the airbenders that were killed, it was the lemurs they took care of, the food they grew, the sky bison they raised. This scene gets me so emotional because it’s 3 different species sharing the same pain

Aang producing an Air shockwave that encompassed the entirety of Ba Sing Se (largest city in the world) is one of the greatest bending feats in the franchise. Imagine if this was a destructive Air blast instead

One of the most gut-wrenching scenes in the entire show that no one talks about is when Aang tried to smile at Katara to show her everything is going to be okay, but then his expression changes to fear because he’s just a little kid who’s scared 😭

So you’re telling me Zuko has a law that forbids anyone from interrupting the Fire Nation’s council meeting EXCEPT for Aang. Not his uncle, wife, friends. Oh Zuko you’re never beating the #1 Aang simp allegations im afraid

One of my favorite subtle moments: when Aang races the other airbending kids, Gyatso deliberately jumps on his back to slow him down & let the other kids win. He makes sure they don’t come to resent him for being so much stronger, which sadly ends up happening later in the series

Only in the Avatar fandom will the writers show you a scene of Roku directly confessing that the 100 year war was his fault, and STILL manage to blame Aang for it

Aang running down the wall of Ba Sing Se in super speed and destroying a gigantic war machine will always be the most underrated display of strength in the show. This scene was iconic

This was the last conversation ever held between two Air Nomads pre-genocide. Their final words to one another were: “Then we return to the eternal wind.” It hits even harder when you realize that, by the time of Avatar: Seven Havens, their culture had truly gone extinct.
