After years of false claims, President Muizzu has now confirmed there are no “serious concerns” with the bilateral agreements between Maldives and India. He won the 2023 presidential election on the back of a campaign that claimed these agreements threatened our sovereignty and territorial integrity. That narrative has now collapsed under his own words. It spread fear, broke trust, and damaged Maldives' reputation globally. The people of Maldives and India deserve an apology and a serious accounting for the harm caused.

Tonight, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu inaugurated the new Hanimadhoo International Airport, marking the completion of a major project that began with assistance from the Indian government during President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration. My deepest gratitude to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for this great initiative and to the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi , the government and people of India for their generous assistance. It is indeed ironic that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and his colleagues, while in opposition, labeled the Hanimaadhoo Airport Project as an Indian military initiative. Construction workers were falsely called Indian soldiers, fueling a dangerous nationalist narrative. Every Indian‑supported project was politicized to inflame anti‑India sentiment, turning international cooperation into a political weapon. Yet, in a striking twist of fate, President Muizzu has now inaugurated the very project his campaign once vilified—a project made possible by the same partners his government sought to demonize.

After Asr prayers this afternoon, we laid to rest our beloved father Sheikh Moosa Jameel. At this time of immense grief my family and I are deeply touched and humbled to witness the heartfelt outpouring of love and respect for our dear father. I convey our deepest appreciation to each and everyone of you individually, on behalf of my mother and our family for compassionately sharing our moment of sadness. It was comforting to see you all at the Janaza. O Allah, forgive him, raise his rank among those who are guided, and take care of those he leaves behind him. Forgive us and him, O Lord of the worlds; expand his grave for him and illuminate it for him. Ameen!

We cannot let innocent lives, especially those of Palestinian children, be collateral damage of yet another conflict the international community is failing to solve. Participated at the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit today on behalf of President Solih and urged for an immediate ceasefire and called to ensure enough aid enters safely to Gaza. I also reaffirmed #Maldives support to Palestine in realizing their inalienable rights including to an independent State with East Jerusalem as its capital.

As we think about a new world order, I propose three features that I think must be part of it: 1️⃣ The developing countries should play a more dominant and decisive role. India 🇮🇳 has shown the way during the pandemic and through its G20 Presidency that the developing world is ready, and able to do so! 2️⃣ The solutions we propose for today’s multi-faceted, multi-dimensional, transboundary issues must be the same - holistic, multi-dimensional, multi-faceted and shared. We cannot think of them as singular problems anymore. 3️⃣ Which is why a commitment to multilateralism is still necessary.
