🚨 A testimony from the heart of the White House in 1948: They asked him, “Were many Jews against you as well?” U.S. President Harry Truman—the first to recognize Israel within 11 minutes of the declaration—replied, “Well, there were many Jews against me because they wanted all of Palestine.” Then he said: “You can’t take 5 or 6 million people out of a country, fill it with another 5 or 6 million, and expect both groups to be satisfied.” Then he admitted: “We went ahead and did it and got it done.
