Nepal faces another devastating flood as the Budhigandaki River sweeps away Salleri Bazaar in Gorkha. A landslide is suspected to have blocked the river before unleashing a sudden surge. The disaster comes amid recurring flash floods and landslides across the Himalayan region, where fragile mountain slopes, intense rainfall and rising rivers pose a growing threat to small habitations living loser to the river banks in remote areas.
