ENGR. BOLEX

In engineering safety is our watchword. During my active days in NEPA there was a day we went for fault clearing on a line (33kv line) and before we move to site we must as a matter of regulation we visited injection substation controlling the line to switch it off. On getting there the line switch was switched off and put a tag "men working" on the switch. Men moved to site, every safety procedures adhered to, mounted ladder, earthed the line and started working. Two hours into the working we heard a large blast,a devastating shocking with intense burn. Two linemen badly affected, ( I didn't want to talk much on the fatality). What could have happened? We did every necessary things. What a loss!!! From the site we went straight to the injection substation to ascertain who could have powered the line. When we got there what happened was shocking! The operator we handed our duty to had closed for his shift but the person who resumed duty was one SHAYO JARABA human being, Werey resumed shift and powered on the switch. Since then whenever we're working on the line our man must stay with the operator at the injection substation.
