Te Pāti Māori MP Mariameno Kapa-Kingi just told Karen Chhour MP in Select Committee that she doesn’t “understand the essence of being Māori” and labelled idea that the safety of a child should matter more than their ancestry as “abhorrent”. This shameful rhetoric tells you everything you need to know about Te Pāti Māori. Their unhealthy obsession with race is exactly the kind of thinking that saw children taken out of safe, loving homes and put in harm’s way because their carers were the ‘wrong race’.
