Figured it out. It's Dominik's redemption arc. They've been hinting since November. -Cena: "He's a good kid." -Balor: "I'm responsible for creating you. Now I'm responsible for destroying you." -Rey: "As long as I'm around you'll never be the greatest Mysterio." Cena calling Dom a good kid, something that softens Dom's heel character. Finn's promo specifically points to Dom turning on Rey and that Finn regrets his mistake with Dom. And Rey's promo emphasizes "as long as I'm around."

Dominik interview w/ Italian publication Esse Magazine. Dom is ALWAYS polite and professional but I've NEVER seen him be this vocal. This is a big deal for even him to say this. He says it in a respectful way here too however I can feel his frustration 😢 The interviewer asks him why he isn't on the Clash in Italy card because fans there want to see him. Also asks him why he isn't going after championships and using him more.

In a match where Dominik was CLEARLY working heel and Penta CLEARLY working face the crowd still cheered Dom and you got an entire arena with competing chants of: "Let's Go Penta" "Let's Go Dom" The fans want to cheer Dominik Mysterio no matter how he's presented and I don't think WWE can hold him back much longer.

Of course it was Cena's idea. While a lot of his retirement tour was dictated by WWE, his last ever feud being with Dominik Mysterio was definitely 100% John Cena's idea. He loves Dom and believes he's the future face of WWE. And creating a moment for everyone in Judgment Day will last the rest of their careers.

This promo heavily hinted at what's going to happen with Judgment Day : -Liv & Dom are still getting huge pops despite acting like heels and beating John Cena. While the rest of the group still gets boos. -Both of them were literally and figuratively standing in front of the group. The optics were intentional. -Dom THANKED Judgment Day for trying to help him, something a bayface would do...then in the next breath said "When THAT failed (😅) I had to get the ace up my sleeve (Liv)"...classic jerk heel move. -Dom said the 2 most important things to him is Liv & the IC title (not the group). -Liv told the group they lost their edge while she was gone, and the cutaway to Finn & Roxanne VERY much disagreeing with her.

For those clamoring for Face Finn you're setting him up HARD. Dom's gonna get massive cheers no matter who he goes up against because it happened organically. A storyline to make Finn look like the good guy isn't gonna help. A heel getting bigger cheers than the face makes the babyface look terrible. Why set Finn up like that? The audience has spoken here and this has been the story for a year. Just lean into it. Dom's firmly a tweener and Eddie Guerrero type lying, cheating and stealing is what endears Dom to fans. Finn's in a lose-lose situation here. Even if Dom double-crosses them he's gonna be loved. Dom gets cheered everywhere. Finn gets boo'd everywhere outside of an NXT entrance. Hell, even in the recent UK house show tour Finn and Judgment Day were getting boos and Dom was getting louder cheers than Punk here.

Interesting exchange. Finn: "You lost because Raquel got involved. You seen it Dominik didn't you?" Liv: "Yeah, what happened Dominik?" Dom: "I didn't see, they didn't set it up for us back here." Dom could have buried Raquel here. He called her chismosa after she snitched on him. But he was being honest.
