Matt Rhule told me he moved Nebraska’s practices from the morning to the afternoon because of the demands that travel puts on players. He also said no team that practices in the morning has won a national championship, and that was something he kept in mind when making the change. Next Up with Adam Breneman x PrizePicks

Johnny Manziel said something every college star eventually figures out: You think you know ball… until the league shows you how much you don’t. He walked into a pre-draft meeting with Bill O’Brien and told him he read linebackers under center. Bill stared back in disbelief. In the league, you read safeties, rotations, disguises and everything that happens after the ball is snapped. That moment hits every player eventually. College gives you confidence but the league gives you humility. No matter how talented you are, you learn fast that the NFL speaks a completely different language. 👇👇

John Rhys Plumlee’s day today was INSANE. He played in UCF’s 5pm home baseball game vs Memphis. Goes 2-3 with a triple and 2 RBIs. UCF wins 12-3. He then leaves the game in 7th inning, sprints out of the stadium & is escorted in golf cart to the football stadium to play in the UCF Football Spring Game at 7:30. Throws 2+ TDs. WILD. @PlumleeJohn is one of the best stories in college sports.

The United Football League is averaging 631,000 viewers per game this season. The NHL averaged 546,000 on national TV and the MLS averaged 120,000. Spring football has failed in America for 40 years - this feels like the first version that actually has a chance to last. The biggest reason why: The UFL became developmental football with real stakes, recognizable coaches, players people actually know and legitimate TV distribution. And in a football obsessed country, there’s real value in that. ⬇️⬇️

Joey McGuire told me Texas Tech recruits and evaluates talent more like an NFL team than a traditional college program. Their position coaches are focused on coaching, while the personnel department handles most of the recruiting and evaluations. It’s a completely different model than what most of college football is doing. ⬇️⬇️ Next Up with Adam Breneman x USAT

James Franklin said he is going to be a different version of himself at Virginia Tech. According to Ethan Grunkemeyer, that change has been obvious from day one. Franklin has brought a different level of energy that’s spread throughout the entire program. Grunkemeyer said you can tell Franklin is coaching with a chip on his shoulder, and the team has embraced that mindset. ⬇️⬇️ Next Up with Adam Breneman x PrizePicks

Five years ago, I bet everything on a stranger. I had just left coaching and only had a few months of pay left from Arizona State. I knew I wanted to kick off a new career, but I wasn’t sure what it would look like. Then I met Jake. He told me that he could help me build something on social media. I’d seen his work with some of his other clients, and took the dive, telling him I’d do whatever he told me for three months. It took him 90 days, and he added 92,000 followers to my accounts. Four years later, my new company, Arvelo Media, is acquiring his. It’s the same people and the same strategies, just with more resources. If you would have told me back in 2020 that I’d be off the sidelines and in front of a camera, I would have thought that was crazy. Now, we own the company that does it.

I sat down with new Virginia Tech head coach James Franklin & this one did not disappoint. I played for Coach Franklin, so I know him well… and watching him build a program from the ground up again has been awesome. This was NOT a surface level interview… We talked about why he took the Virginia Tech Football job, what went wrong at Penn State & what he wishes could’ve ended differently He opened up about pressure, criticism, leadership & how his definition of success has evolved. You’re going to see a different side of James Franklin in this one!! OUT NOW.!

After being fired from FIU, Dennis Smith wrestled with taking a junior college job that paid just $8,500 a year. He burned through his savings, lived as cheaply as possible & poured everything he had into football. Looking back, he told me it was one of the best experiences of his career because it allowed him to focus entirely on the game he loved. That stop helped him climb back through the coaching ranks and ultimately played a major role in him ending up at Miami⬇️ Next Up with Adam Breneman x PrizePicks

Texas Tech GM told me NIL and revenue sharing have changed everything and because of that, every college athlete should have an agent. There are bad agents out there… But there are a lot of good ones too. For most players, it makes a real difference. ⬇️ @USAT

“I practiced the day I transferred.” Beau Pribula opens up on @NextUpWithAdam about the most emotional moment of his career — leaving Penn State before the playoff run. It wasn’t about chasing NIL. He didn’t plan to leave. Just a brutal decision in a broken system. Now, he’s at Missouri — locked in, leading, and ready to dominate the SEC. We talked transfer portal chaos, NIL pressure, life in Columbia and what it really means to bet on yourself.
