I often joke that I have only ever had one job. What I rarely mention is that, in my early thirties, I was building two businesses simultaneously. Not long after the Unipetrol acquisition, a small group of us saw the opportunity to apply for a GSM license. From 8:00am to 8:00pm, I focused on growing the energy business. The nights, starting from 8:00pm, belonged to telecoms. Seven of us worked until 2:00am daily, refining the bid, aligning partners, and preparing for an outcome that was far from guaranteed. We won that license, launched, and later exited. Today, that telecom company is known as Airtel. What's the lesson? Youth is an execution advantage. At that stage of life, sustaining 18-hour workdays repeatedly was possible. Not only because of motivation, but because of capacity. There is a surplus of energy and tolerance for uncertainty at that stage. Over time, that edge diminishes. If you are early in your career, this is the period to use that advantage. Take the risk. Endeavour. #jatnotes #winning

My mother has always lived by one simple rule: show up, no matter what. When other kids pretended to be ill or exaggerated thier symptoms to escape school we knew that wouldn’t work with us as my Mother would take us to the hospital and then march us straight back to class the very same day. In her book, illness was something to treat, not an excuse to negotiate with. That same spirit still defines her. Strong, vibrant purposeful, endlessly supportive and kind, a true rock with a regal presence and a beauty that only seems to grow with time. She has more vitality than most people half her age. At 60 she casually decided to take up golf and now plays three times a week. At 83 she is still moving, still showing up, and still outworking people who claim to be “exhausted” by lunchtime. Happy Mother’s Day to the woman who taught me that greatness doesn’t start with talent or luck, it starts with showing up. And she has been doing it, magnificently, for 83 years. 💐

It’s one year since the historic NAOC acquisition; a proud milestone in our growth story. One that has doubled our portfolio, deepened our impact, and proven what the great “Humans of Oando” are capable of. In just 365 days, we’ve achieved phenomenal results. Long-dormant pipelines are back online, running with uptime consistently above 90%. Critical assets across four states - twelve flow stations, two power plants, and one of Nigeria’s largest gas processing hubs, are delivering uninterrupted value. None of this happened by chance. It took the trust of investors, financiers, regulators, the collaboration of our host communities, and the unwavering commitment of the Humans of Oando, to deliver this transition. Thanks to their support and trust. Audacity, resilience, sacrifice, passion, persistence and hard work ... that’s the Oando Way. Humans of Oando … thank you for showing up daily with commitment, precision and dedication. The future is bright. #betonoando
