had a hole torn in my world yesterday, lost my soul-cat Benny unexpectedly. I don’t usually post extremely personal things on this account I try to keep things focused on art but he deserves the breach. 14 years by my side. I adopted him as a stray kitten. We shared 6 different homes, 2 coasts, 3 states. He was fearless, relentlessly affectionate to both humans & other animals, smart as hell and he basically was my shadow. Whether I was working on art, packing orders, recording music or podcasts, talking to my therapist, exercising or sleeping, he was always right there. Ask anyone who has ever done a video call with me and they will tell you that he jumped into frame or banged on the office door to be let in… (how dare I take a call without him?!) I truly felt like we were telepathically connected. He understood things on a level that most humans could not. I’ve always been an animal lover & I connect to dogs and cats alike but he was an outlier, he sincerely felt like a mythical being more than a cat to me. So ever present and enigmatic that it was impossible for me to imagine a world without him in it. It felt as if reality would simply collapse without his pleasant chirp, his knowing stares and otherworldly purr. And for my wife and I, for our 2 dogs and our other cat, it literally has. There is now a Benny sized hole in our world & it will simply be there until the end of time. (This video was when I was recording a podcast interview in 2020, he did this shit all the time but to have it captured so perfectly like this was a true gift)
