Hasan Piker has a massive platform - with over 11.3 million followers - and he's used it to normalize and amplify extremist rhetoric. The prominent Twitch streamer has explicitly expressed support for U.S.-designated terrorist organizations, including Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and the PFLP. Piker recently said, "I would vote for Hamas over Israel every single time" and he's called Hezbollah's flag his "favorite." On multiple occasions, he's used the dehumanizing terms "inbred" and "psychopath" to refer to Israeli and Orthodox Jews. He's also used rhetoric that trivializes the Holocaust, including by insinuating that Anne Frank would have supported the Houthis and equating Israel with Nazi Germany. Jews are not alone on the receiving end of Piker's vile rhetoric. On his livestreams, Piker has made misogynistic jokes about date rape and responded to Black critics with vulgar sexual insults. Piker amplifies this pattern of hate to millions of followers. His growing involvement in electoral politics and mainstream media spreads these toxic messages far beyond fringe spaces.

Casting Hasidic Jews as foreign, criminal, or “not real Americans” is straight out of the antisemitic playbook. This kind of rhetoric fuels harmful stereotypes and discrimination. Falsely blaming New York’s Hasidic population directly contributes to the climate in which the city just reported a 182% YOY spike in antisemitic hate crimes in January. Words matter, and public officials must do better.

The man arrested last week for throwing a brick at a synagogue in Sarasota, Florida, reportedly admitted to law enforcement that he deliberately targeted a Jewish house of worship and said he was motivated by social media propaganda. One video he reportedly reposted was Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani 's video demonizing Israel. As ADL’s Shira Goodman said, "The words and actions of people in positions of power can certainly motivate other people who are seeing them, who are reading it, who are exposed to that kind of material online.” The Jewish community deserves leaders who will confront antisemitism, not amplify rhetoric that fuels it.

She doesn't want to get harassed, chased or yelled at, irrespective of what she's saying. No Jewish public official should have to decide whether participating in civic life is worth the risk of being targeted because they're Jewish. Instead, our new report, Antisemitism in U.S. Teachers Unions, found that Jewish teachers increasingly feel unsafe in their own unions. Nearly 75% of the more than 300 Jewish teachers we surveyed now self-censor in those spaces. ADL’s Director of Advocacy Sara Colb explains how that’s not just a problem for Jewish teachers. When unions that pride themselves on being inclusive spaces allow hate to spread within their halls, it can put students at risk.

ADL filed a federal civil rights complaint against Boulder Valley School District. As Jonathan Greenblatt told Fox News: every teacher should be trained to reject antisemitism.
