🌍 Maputo in Flames: A Nation at a Crossroads From the serene bay of Catembe, the city of Maputo is now shrouded in black smoke—a stark symbol of the unrest sparked by the validation of fraudulent electoral results by the Constitutional Council. As tensions escalate, one question echoes across Mozambique: Why can’t we foster dialogue to achieve lasting peace in our nation? The flames engulfing Maputo are more than physical; they represent the burning frustration of a people whose voices have been stifled and whose trust has been betrayed. Dialogue is not a weakness—it is a path to reconciliation, stability, and the dignity every Mozambican deserves. It’s time for leaders to rise above partisanship and prioritize the well-being of the nation. Peace must not be a distant hope but an urgent reality. 💭 What will it take to turn these flames into a beacon of unity and justice? #MozambiqueRising #JusticeNow #PeaceForMozambique #DemocracyMatters #HumanRights 🌟

CABO DELGADO IS BLEEDING — AND THE WORLD CONTINUES TO LOOK AWAY On 28 July 2025, just two days ago, thousands of families were once again forced to flee their homes in Cabo Delgado, northern Mozambique. Entire communities left everything behind — running for their lives, carrying fear, grief, and uncertainty. This is not a new crisis. It is yet another tragic chapter in a brutal and protracted conflict that began in 2017. For eight years, the people of Cabo Delgado have endured waves of displacement, violence, and abandonment. They have suffered in silence, while the world — and often their own government — looked away. ➡️ Children growing up without security. ➡️ Parents unable to provide shelter, food, or education. ➡️ Villages burned, memories erased, lives uprooted. ➡️ Fear replacing hope as the daily reality. Since 2017, Cabo Delgado has become a battlefield of geopolitics, extractive interests, and violent extremism — but it is ordinary people who have paid the price. And yet, despite everything, the response has been marked by silence — or worse, neglect. While terror continues to speak, the State remains muted, absent, or complicit through inaction. This cannot become our new normal. We cannot allow Cabo Delgado to remain a forgotten corner of Mozambique — invisible to national decision-makers, and irrelevant to the global community. This is not only about counterterrorism or military response. It is about justice, dignity, and the value of human life. ⚠️ Peace cannot be built on indifference. ⚠️ Security cannot be selective. ⚠️ And democracy loses all meaning when it abandons the most vulnerable. I write not out of politics, but out of principle. Because to remain silent now is to accept complicity. Cabo Delgado cannot wait another year. The people of Cabo Delgado deserve to be seen, heard, and protected. #CaboDelgado #Mozambique #HumanRights #PeaceNow #SocialJustice #CrisisResponse #NoMoreSilence #Solidarity

🌟 Resilience in the Face of Chaos: A Story from Mozambique Amid ongoing unrest and instability, stories of strategy and resilience emerge. The Frozzy juice factory, proudly Mozambican and based in Tchumene 2, has implemented a proactive measure to protect its infrastructure from being vandalized. By establishing a military-supervised distribution system, the company has ensured that its facilities remain safe amidst the turmoil. This approach highlights how businesses are adapting to safeguard critical infrastructure during turbulent times. Even in moments of crisis, innovation and determination demonstrate the will to persevere. 🌍✨ #Resilience #Strategy #Mozambique #HopeInAdversity

🌍 Maputo Under Siege: The Grim Reality Ahead of Daniel Chapo’s Inauguration This video paints a stark picture of Maputo today, on the eve of Daniel Chapo’s inauguration as the fifth President of Mozambique. The city is under heavy militarization, with arbitrary arrests of young people and an atmosphere of fear fueled by relentless police repression. Although a public holiday was declared, allowing citizens to rest, the city feels eerily like a curfew in broad daylight. Security forces dominate the streets, detentions are widespread, and the silence is deafening—a chilling backdrop to what should be a moment of democratic celebration. Instead of unity and hope, this inauguration is overshadowed by repression, instability, and a blatant disregard for fundamental freedoms. As the streets of Maputo remain shrouded in tension, we are reminded of the urgent need for a Mozambique built on justice, dignity, and human rights. Let this moment ignite reflection and inspire action toward a brighter, freer future for all. ✊

🚨 Rapid Intervention Unit (UIR) Pursues Communication Team of Presidential Candidate Venâncio Mondlane: A Grave Threat to Democracy This video captures agents of the Rapid Intervention Unit (UIR) actively pursuing the communication team of presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane. How can such actions occur in a country that defines itself as democratic? The situation escalates further: the police invaded homes around Estrela Market and intimidated individuals working in the communication team of a political candidate. Since Venâncio Mondlane's popular rally at Estrela Market on Thursday, January 9, following his arrival at the airport, the market has been subjected to systematic police attacks. These actions represent a blatant attack on democracy, freedom of expression, and political participation. Such behavior cannot be normalized in a nation striving to uphold the rule of law. It is imperative to demand accountability and ensure free and fair political processes for all! ✊ hashtag#Democracy hashtag#FreedomOfSpeech hashtag#Justice

💔 Massacre at Maputo Central Prison: Over 130 Lives Lost The tragic events at Maputo’s Central Prison and BO have left over 130 confirmed victims, exposing severe human rights violations and unimaginable brutality by the security forces. 📌 The Escape On December 25, prisoners seized two AKM weapons from the Penitentiary Guard, taking two guards hostage. In the chaos, over 2,000 prisoners fled, while around 300 remained detained. Security forces—including the GOI (Intervention Operations Group), UIR (Rapid Intervention Unit), and the military—launched operations, recapturing more than 300 prisoners. 📌 The Massacre Following their recapture, prisoners were taken to a room within the penitentiary. That night, between December 25 and 26, a massacre unfolded. Over 100 prisoners were executed by security forces. This adds to the 33 prisoners killed during the escape, bringing the death toll to over 130. 📌 The Impact on Families Families who arrived at the penitentiary to bring food to their loved ones were told to go to the Central Hospital. Some found their relatives injured; others were sent to the morgue, where countless bodies remain unidentified. Morgues in Maputo and Tsalala are overflowing with victims from this tragedy. ⚠️ The Urgent Need for Accountability This massacre is a grave setback for justice and human rights in Mozambique. Many injured prisoners are not receiving adequate medical care, which could push the death toll even higher. It is imperative that independent investigations are conducted, those responsible are held accountable, and measures are implemented to ensure such atrocities never happen again. 🕊️ We cannot remain silent.
