🔸This employee at Kudenga Farm where the crash happened narrates how when they arrived at the scene, the bodies were still burning. There were no fire brigade or emergency services personnel in sight so they had to get water in a truck from the farm to put out the fire. How come there was no Marondera Fire Brigade to attend to this emergency? Why did ambulances have to come from Harare? The uncomfortable truth is that the victims of the crash were failed in every way by a broken, I dare say non-existent, emergency services system. When will political elites learn that you simply cannot “VIP” your way out of a broken state system that loots money meant to be invested in public services? When will places outside Harare like Kariba and Marondera get their own services working? When the masses raise these concerns, it’s not out of spite or to attack you. Rather, if you listened instead of declaring war or chanting 2040 as a slur, you may actually save your own life. We need new leaders.🇿🇼

🔸People are spreading a false narrative that Wicknell was a bona fide businessman. He was not. He was a corrupt tenderpreneur and he believed that his conduct was normal. Have you forgotten the time he went before a Parliamentary Committee and admitted that Intratek is a shelf company that takes advantage of the tender process to front international companies for profit? This is why Wicknell’s Intratek doesn’t produce or sell anything. It has no visible employees. They never exhibit at trade shows and there’s no discernible footprint of his commercial activity. This is why he could not build the Gwanda solar farm that he was paid millions by Govt to deliver. They simply get tenders from Govt then pawn off those tenders to foreign companies that do the work. Wicknell then puts a multi-million dollar mark up, gets paid huge amounts from the public purse and that’s how he got “rich.” These are the public funds that should be invested in basic public services like hospitals, schools and public infrastructure but are instead wasted on private jets, Rolls Royces and most recently “gifts” to silence influential artists, church leaders and other voices with a following. So please don’t be surprised that the public are so opposed to what he represents. We need new leaders.🇿🇼

🔸Not quite hey. Remember circa 1995? See Exhibit A below. The city of Harare was pristine. People had no reason to be vending because they had jobs to go to. Everyone moved with purpose. There was order. In about 1997, ZANU PF tanked the economy. The rest is history. You cannot address the vending crisis without addressing the economic crisis. It’s an exercise in futility. You’ll “clear up” today and they’ll be back tomorrow. It’s a matter of survival. Nobody chooses this indignity but they’re forced into it by poverty. We need new leaders.🇿🇼

🔸Moment of silence for how he got the multi-million dollar Gwanda Solar Project tender with zero qualifications and zero experience. These are not my allegations. These are his own admissions when he was brought before a parliamentary portfolio committee that was probing the award of a dodgy tender to him. It’s all a matter of public record. His stock in trade was to befriend top politicians and presidents so that he could get Govt tenders, inflate the prices by the tens of millions and then grease the relevant palms. This would mean he was paid millions more in taxpayer funds than was due to him. He was an unnecessary middle man. These are all funds that should have been spent by the Govt on public services. The evidence of his selfies with and sycophantic of said political elites are all there online for everyone to see. It was a mess. We need new leaders.🇿🇼

🔸Good day Nick Mangwana, When we say this Govt is anti-poor, this is exactly what we mean. If this was a functional country, this lady would be in decent retirement, enjoying a decent pension or have access to a social grant. However, because public money is looted and spent on Gucci shoes, private jets and Rolls Royces, she’s on the street vending in order to try and make an honest living. Daily, we see money spent on luxury cars and big cash donations to buy off the support of the rich and influential yet there is no money for the poor, vulnerable and aged. Your declaration of war on the poor is disgusting and tells us everything we need to know about how selfish, insensitive and cold-hearted you political elites are. It’s a mess. Stop attacking the poor. We need new leaders.🇿🇼

🔸One of the things that pains me most about the Kariba Ferry disaster is that most of the people on the boat were travelling to rural Kariba, carrying goods for resale in their small businesses. A great number of them were women. Who doesn’t know that all too familiar story of a mother carrying a baby on her back with another in hand going off to buy and sell goods to feed her family? It’s unsurprising that it’s reported that one of the victims of the tragedy was recovered with a baby on her back. This is a community that never asked for handouts or government grants. All they needed was a functional public transport system so that they could work and feed their families yet the Govt failed them. They hate poor people. We need new leaders.🇿🇼
