Disappointed that mayor Adam Azim, Mayor of Male’ City is a “big fan” of Sheikh Assim al-Hakeem, despite his ultra-conservative and controversial positions including: - encouragement of female circumcision - prohibition of women working and studying in mixed-gender environments. - promotion of “quietist” Salafist view; all forms of protest are haram. Peace, tolerance, and pluralism are what one should be a fan of, not fanatical, fundamentalist positions!

On 12 December 2025, the Mayor in a public speech announced that corruption cases have been referred to the ACC and other relevant authorities. Given how jumpy mayor’s team got I have carefully looked into the matter. Yes, there was an existing contract. However, in this case MTCC was not simply replaced/novated by Malé City Council, was it? It was not a transfer of responsibilities and rights to another party, was it? 1) NEW TERMS AND CONDITIONS 2) EXTENDED LEASE PERIOD 3) NEW, ADJUSTED RENT This is not novation. You may window-dress it anyway you like but this is forming of a new contract. So YES, a new lease with new terms and conditions and rent and extended period was drawn up and signed with Pyrard Pvt Ltd during Adam Azim, Mayor of Male’ City’s tenure. Ps: I didn’t vote for this because I don’t believe in unsolicited proposal without a proper usool as explained in the video. Would appreciate if legal folks could weigh in. Congratulations to newly elected Malé City Council Mayor Adam Azim, Mayor of Male’ City, councillors, and Secretariat of MaleCityWDC. I am hopeful that the newly elected council will transform Malé City Council into a more accessible and transparent institution, including through regular and proactive public disclosures. I also hope all land giveaway deals are reconsidered with public interest, accountability, and maximum value for the people as the central focus. I thank all staff of Malé City Council for the welcoming and professional attitude they have maintained towards me throughout my term. Thank you Galolhu Uthuru for honouring me with the opportunity to represent you 🙌🏾

I can’t answer that, but here’s what stands out: 1) Money released for old bills of Gas Fihaara despite objections and concerns of fraud. 2) Lawyer accused of altering fish market contract still in post; no police/ACC action. 3) City land register hidden; no contract disclosures. 4) Pushed own bid committee (backed by People's National Congress). Who signed it? Who holds the contract and on what terms? Reveal the contract and the memo! It is becoming increasingly clear that Ibrahim Mohamed Solih ’s view of the The President's Office belongs to the pre-2008 constitutional era. If People's Majlis scrutiny and oversight are seen as inconveniences, it is worth remembering that the special audit into Covid spending uncovered serious corruption and ultimately led to a cabinet minister’s resignation. The problem was never too much scrutiny. If anything, there wasn’t enough of it. Perhaps then MDP Secretariat would not have been reduced to just 38% in the 2023 first round. Also the guy seen in the video sitting to you, Meekail Naseem is the one who yelled the loudest against you, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

At today’s Malé City Council jalsa, Nazima Faiz and I raised the following concerns: 1) Heaps of garbage often remain unremoved. Special provisions are needed during Ramadan to ensure timely clearance. 2) Removal of cat feces should be included in routine road sweeping. In several areas, weeks-old spots remain unattended. Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare 3) Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO) garbage trucks continue to leak putrid liquid across town, creating serious hygiene and public health concerns. Met with HRC of the Maldives today. We are glad to note that the Commission agrees with us on key issues: • absurdity of refusal to gazette a list of recipients including points • applying today’s living conditions to flats allocated in mid-2022 HRCM will also facilitate a meeting with citizens & Abdulla Muththalib @MoCImv.
