Today we broke ground on the construction of our school football pitch ,a proper playing field is not a luxury. It is essential for our children to develop football skills, running ability, teamwork, discipline and overall physical fitness. We call on the Government to make the presence of a standard football pitch a mandatory requirement for licensing any school. The general public has endured suffering, reputational damage, and parental esteem loss, while children have strayed due to rampant nude-related content and vulgar language use, among other issues. Did you know that boda boda kills more people than HIV, malaria, etc.? Have we stopped to ask ourselves why so many of our people are dying on these motorcycles every single day? Do you know that these boda bodas were only produced for Ugandans, and then they expanded to Rwanda and other places? Do you know that much of the world does not use this type of motorcycle in the same way we do? These are extremely light bikes that slip easily, especially on bad roads, in rain and dangerous conditions. And when something goes wrong, it is not just a motorcycle that falls—it is a human being who can lose their life. Many of these motorcycles are assembled in homes in India, yet here we have made them the backbone of passenger transportation. We carry our mothers, fathers, children, brothers and sisters on machines that were never designed to carry the enormous burden we have placed on them. Real bikes are durable, have safety measures and are built mainly for personal use or delivery of little luggage. So why have we allowed these lightweight motorcycles to become the main means of public transportation for our people? How many more people must die before the government takes this seriously? Behind every boda boda accident is a family. A mother who will never see her child again. A child who will grow up without a father. A husband or wife who suddenly becomes a widow or widower. A family that can never be the same again. These are not just numbers. These are our people. These are our loved ones. These are Ugandan lives. If the government really cares about its citizens, then it must have the courage to act. We cannot continue sacrificing our people in the name of cheap and convenient transportation. These boda bodas need to be abolished by government if it really cares for its citizens. We need safer, stronger and more durable forms of transportation. We need a system where human life comes first—not convenience, not business, not profit. Enough is enough. Our people deserve to live. Our families deserve to stop burying their loved ones. Exposing ghost pupils, illegal charges, and irregularities in Naiku Primary and Nabumali SSS shows real commitment to fighting corruption and improving service delivery in education. Thank you, Hon. Minister, for leading by example with the “Expose the Corrupt” campaign. We urge you to extend these inspections to more government schools across the country, including in Luwero District. We also call on other Ministers to leave their offices and get on the ground to inspect key sectors like electricity supply and revenue collection. Today, we commemorate a significant national milestone with the inaugural harvest of experimental medicinal cannabis at our farms at Nakaseke, transitioning from open-field cultivation to greenhouse production is next.
