One of the most terrifying scenes in history. When the people realize that their city has been occupied, loudspeakers demand that everyone come out and line up in front of the soldiers, holding their IDs in one hand and a white flag in the other, women, men, elderly, children, and infants alike. Some are then killed in front of their families and children, while others are arrested after being stripped completely naked, exactly as their mothers gave birth to them. Those fortunate enough to survive are forced to flee far away on foot. All of this happens while the people stand in terrifying silence, watching helplessly. Nothing can be heard except the soldiers’ thunderous shouts and their hysterical laughter that fills the place. They appear exactly like emotionless, amoral robots, programmed to be the most barbaric army in history. Some time later, the people return to their cities and villages, only to find nothing but rubble. Everything has been destroyed. Not a single house remains standing, and not even a single tree is left alive.

This is what schools in Gaza once looked like, before the genocide. Schoolyards were once filled with the voices of children, with laughter, dreams, and small backpacks carrying their hopes for the future. Today, many of these little ones are no longer with us. They were killed, perhaps alongside their entire families, leaving their seats empty forever. As for these schools, many of them no longer exist at all. In Gaza, it was not only schools that were destroyed, but an entire childhood, the dreams of thousands of children, and a future they had every right to live. How heartbreaking it is that school itself has become a stolen dream for a child in Gaza today.
