Srinagar fully sold out. This time not for cheap. No room available at any hotel, any houseboat. Hotels, houseboats, Shikaras, taxis... all have raised rates 500% to 1000%. The 1.5 km drive from Dalgate to Nehru Park is now a 40-minute drive due to permanent traffic jam, huge tourist rush and the successive Governments' lack of will to widen Boulevard to a 4-lane road.

Three professors of Government Degree College Sopore, including Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, were dismissed from service on 27 February 1986 when GM Shah was Chief Minister. Wasn't he responsible for starting the rather repressive era of the termination of services of the Government employees which was subsequently taken to heights by Governor Jagmohan and several CMs/Governors? On his return from Germany, National Conference's rebel MP from Central Kashmir Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi gets a warm reception from his supporters in his hometown of Budgam. Their only slogans..."Ruhullah Ruhullah". In his address to the gathering, Aga Ruhullah revealed that when he was asked (by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in the Working Committee meeting of JKNC ) to resign and contest as MLA from Budgam, he lost no time to offer his resignation. "I just remained silent (in the Budgam by-election campaign and the result is before you. Don't compel me to campaign against you in future", Aga Ruhullah challenged the Chief Minister and the NC leadership.

ANOTHER MILESTONE. Phase-1 of Srinagar Ring Road (Pampore-Narbal-Gabderbal) bypassing the capital city of Srinagar, is now nearing completion. This Phase-1 of the Srinagar Ring Road, which was for the first time approved and announced by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on 25 September 2012 and later fully funded and executed by the National Highways NHAI , will reduce the cumbersome passage of 90-minutes from Pampore to Narbal, to a smooth 30-minute cruise through Chadoura, Ichigam, Budgam, Wadwan. It's a 15-minute drive from Budgam to Pampore but still not operational due to minor incompletions. Main credit for its completion goes to the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. Work on Phase-2 from Narbal to Ganderbal is beginning soon.

Kufr toota khuda khuda kar ké! Sanatnagar-Rawalpora FLYOVER on the National Highway Bypass in Srinagar. Finally thrown open for traffic this evening without any VVIP inauguration. Great relief for lakhs of people in Srinagar and across the Valley. This is the 4th after Nowgam, Hyderpora and Bemina. Two underpasses at Nowgam Railway Station crossing and Mominabad Batmaloo and one pedestrian footbridge at Children Hospital are coming up soon to further break the menace of unending traffic jams on the Bypass.
