THIS DEVELOPER IS RUNNING 850 INDEPENDENT AI MERCHANTS IN THE SAME ECONOMY IN REAL TIME In most strategy games, NPCs revolve around the player. As long as you don’t enter the game, the world feels like it’s frozen. In this project, however, every merchant makes its own decisions. They track prices, trade, buy ships, compete with rivals, and retain memories of past events. > 850 independent AIs running simultaneously > Each has its own personality and memory > They trade completely independently of the player > They share the same economy and compete with each other > The entire system is calculated in just a few milliseconds The interesting part isn’t the number of NPCs — it’s the architecture. The game’s economy, AI, and rendering systems are completely separated. So even if the on-screen FPS drops, the world in the background keeps living. The real idea is this: the feeling of a living world doesn’t come from adding more NPCs. When you create characters that can make decisions independently of the player, the world truly starts to feel alive.
