The afternoon of April 8 started like many others at Kolomoki Mounds State Park, a nearly 1,300-acre Native American historic site in remote southwest Georgia. Travelers trickled in and out of the visitor center, as park staff fielded questions about navigating the vast site. Then, at around 2:45 p.m., a bald man wearing glasses walked in carrying a cardboard box. Surveillance video shared with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution shows him approach the counter, place the box on top and then tell a park staffer, “I believe this belongs here.”

Atlanta traffic has a villain — and it’s shaped like pasta. Spaghetti Junction, officially the Tom Moreland Interchange, is one of the most infamous traffic bottlenecks in the South, where I‑85 and I‑285 collide. It’s even name‑dropped in Outkast’s “Stankonia.” The five‑level interchange replaced a clogged cloverleaf in the early 1980s, after earning the nickname Malfunction Junction. The redesign from the Georgia Department of Transportation eased congestion for a time, but rapid population growth turned it back into a daily commuting logjam. Mayor Andre Dickens was in Memphis on Friday, when the water woes began, and did not return until Saturday. He started posting updates nearly 24 hours after many city residents started facing reduced water pressure or no service at all. A number of people have said they first learned of Atlanta’s water woes Friday afternoon from performer Megan Thee Stallion, whose State Farm Arena stop was canceled both Friday and Saturday nights. About 2 p.m. Saturday, Dickens made his first public appearance in response to the disaster. Dickens vowed updates would come every two hours until all issues were resolved. Read more: 🎥: drone_golf
