Samad Taylor has been fun. Make it now four nice defensive plays in left in his first couple starts with the Padres.

Approaching a dozen or so home run robberies in the last couple seasons at Petco Park, with Merrill and Tatis patrolling the outfield. I'm convinced this is the best one yet. Merrill went WAY over the wall to bring back a certain Julio Rodríguez homer.

Fernando Tatis Jr.'s first homer in a month put the Padres on top 4-1. He ended a career-long homerless drought at 128 PAs. The Padres hit three homers in a four-run second (but crucially none of them hard enough to claim the second tiebreaker in the Vedder Cup, exit velocity).

Impressive from Jake Cronenworth to get around on this one, 94 mph near the hands. The Padres have a 2-1 lead in the second.
