Trump's economic adviser Hassett tells me the shutdown is hurting the economy even more than the administration had anticipated, adding he predicts 1-1.5% reduction in GDP growth this quarter "which means we're gonna probably about cut it in half" I asked if he thinks they can make up those losses immediately once the shutdown ends or if he expects long-term impacts His response: "There should be a big bounce back right away." "If the paid is made up, say in January, then all of that money will go into the first quarter of next year" and help boost GDP again Though he seems to imply that employee backpay is needed to help feed that growth. Whether that happens is a question that Trump still hasn't answered

I asked Karoline Leavitt why the administration doesn't mandate that ICE agents wear body cameras (it was required under Biden, but Trump rescinded that) Leavitt's response: "Well, that's a policy question that I know. The policy folks in the building are having with members on capitol hill, and I'll leave it to them and the president to make that decision" I also asked whether the administration would cooperate with local MN officials on the investigation into Pretti, she said President Trump told Gov Walz that he'll discuss it with his team
