Nigeria Police Force New Media Officer

Please refrain from labeling them as bandits. They are actively engaged in combating banditry. A video circulating online falsely claims that a police officer was seen interacting with armed bandits in Katsina State. This allegation is entirely false. The individuals in the video are not criminals. They are members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria and registered hunters partnering with the Police in ongoing operations in Musawa and Matazu LGAs to combat crime and protect their communities. The video shows a routine interaction between an officer and community security volunteers as they proceed to a designated operational area. Misrepresenting this interaction misleads the public, endangers genuine community security partners, and undermines ongoing efforts to protect these communities. The Nigeria Police Force strongly condemns this distortion. Spreading false security narratives that cause public anxiety and erode trust is not just harmless, it carries legal consequences. To all Nigerians who viewed the video: the individuals shown are partners in your safety. They are vigilantes and hunters working with the Police, not against the law. Please verify information before sharing. Misinformation has serious consequences

The Nigeria Police Force is aware of the viral video involving ASP Newton Isokpehi. Our response has been swift, decisive, and clear. The officer has been identified, and disciplinary procedures have commenced at the Anambra State Command. IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has taken further action. Alongside disciplinary proceedings, he has ordered a mental evaluation, medical assessment, and drug testing for ASP Isokpehi to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation. Accountability in this case involves both appropriate consequences and institutional understanding. We affirm that all Nigerians and officers have the right to lawfully record police officers performing their duties. This right is real, protected, and will be upheld by the Force. However, this right carries responsibilities. Recordings that obstruct operations, compromise officer safety, or endanger the public are not protected. There is a clear distinction between lawful accountability and interference with police duties. WHEN LAWFUL BOUNDARIES ARE RESPECTED BY ALL PARTIES, accountability and public safety can coexist effectively. ASP Isokpehi’s actions and comments were inappropriate, threatening, and unprofessional. He is therefore subject to disciplinary measures. The outcome of this disciplinary process will be made public. We are committed to ensuring transparency.

He did not issue a statement; he was present in person. Following the devastating attack and abduction in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State, on 15 May 2026, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, responded directly rather than from afar. He was accompanied by CP Ojo Adekimi of Kwara State Command and CP Abayomi Shogunle of the Schools Protection Squad. Upon arrival in Oyo State, the IGP met with CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga and other security stakeholders, received operational briefings, and personally addressed the affected communities with a clear message. "We are not resting until every abducted victim comes home." He condemned the attack as cruel and unacceptable, ordered the immediate deployment of additional tactical and intelligence resources to the affected area and surrounding forests, and assured parents, guardians, and residents that coordinated search-and-rescue operations are intensifying. To the families awaiting news, the Inspector-General of Police stood in your community, acknowledged your situation directly, and has mobilized all available resources to bring your loved ones home.

They wore the uniform and committed the very crimes they promised to prevent. This is difficult to say, but it needs to be said clearly and openly. Some officers of the Nigeria Police Force have been caught running criminal groups in Rivers State. They abducted people during fake patrols, forced access to victims' bank accounts and cryptocurrency wallets, extorted millions, kidnapped, and committed armed robbery. They did this in uniform, using police vehicles, and targeted the very people they were meant to protect. The Nigeria Police Force, led by IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM, will not ignore these actions. Syndicate One, Zone 16, Yenagoa: Inspector Ayanniyi Jelili, Inspector Durojaye Francis, and Inspector Olayemi Titus have been arrested. Three accomplices are still at large and are being actively pursued. Police recovered three Toyota Sienna buses and ₦7,338,800 linked to these crimes. Syndicate Two, Rivers State Command: Inspector John Okoi, Inspector Eyibo Asuquo, Inspector Udo Ndipmong, Inspector Bright Nwachukwu, and Inspector Anele Ikechukwu have been dismissed. Their case has been sent for prosecution. The charges include conspiracy, armed robbery, kidnapping, extortion, and official corruption. This is a real and necessary internal cleansing. It is painful, but no rank will protect a criminal in this Force. If you have suffered because of bad officers, please report it. Your voice helps ensure accountability.

We told you they were safe. Now here is the full story of how it happened. On 3rd June 2026, at 7:30AM, Mrs. Adegoke Olaide Busayo, 42, was driving her 11-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, to school on Elewura Street, Off Ring Road, Ibadan. Four armed suspects in an unregistered ash-coloured Toyota Corolla had been conducting surveillance for several weeks. The suspects documented her vehicles, her children's school, daily routine, and lifestyle as part of a calculated surveillance operation that began in May 2026. The gang even attempted to recruit an insider from her household. This was a targeted operation. Upon receiving the distress report, Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM, ordered an immediate, coordinated manhunt. FID-IRT and the Oyo State Police Command responded without delay. The investigation advanced with the arrest of Wale Abolalewa, also known as "Oloro," who was already on the Command's watchlist. His apprehension led to the arrest of Dare Oyedele, alias "Solution," a key member of the syndicate. Intelligence from both suspects directed operatives to a hideout in Lado Community, Ayegun, Ibadan. On 6th June 2026 at 7:30PM, exactly 84 hours after the abduction, operatives raided the hideout. "Kelechi," a lookout who traveled from Lagos for the operation, opened fire on the operatives and was neutralized, along with another unidentified gang member. Mrs. Adegoke and her sons, Peter and Paul, were rescued unharmed and reunited with their family. Arrested: Wale Abolalewa ("Oloro"), Dare Oyedele ("Solution"), Semiu Ishola, 39, hideout facilitator, and Adeyemi Ayobami, 35, hideout facilitator. Recovered: Three pump-action guns, fourteen live cartridges, one Toyota Corolla used in the abduction, a battle axe, a hammer, criminal charms, face masks, and substances suspected to be hard drugs. Fleeing suspects, believed to have sustained gunshot injuries, are being actively pursued. Medical practitioners and hospital operators are urged to report anyone presenting with suspicious gunshot injuries immediately. Confidentiality is guaranteed. The IGP’s message to all kidnapping syndicates in Nigeria is clear: We will locate your hideouts, apprehend your lookouts, and ensure victims return home safely every time.

A man attempted to disguise himself in a stolen police uniform, but Lagos residents quickly identified the deception. He walked through Lagos in a stolen police camouflage uniform, carrying a warrant card and ATM card taken from an officer’s bag. He believed the uniform would protect him, but vigilant Lagosians noticed inconsistencies in his behavior, questioned him, and revealed his true identity. Onipede Tajudeen Ojo, 22, is now in custody. The investigation is ongoing. This is "See Something, Say Something" in action. Thank you to everyone who reported him rather than taking matters into their own hands. Let it be clear: jungle justice has no place in Nigeria. Always hand suspects over to the Police. Remain vigilant and continue reporting.

You recorded the incident. We responded. The officer is now in custody. A video alleging extortion by ASP Omomefe Akin Geoffrey and other officers of the Rivers State Police Command has gone viral. The Command did not ignore the report; immediate action was taken. The Leadership of the Force has ordered the immediate arrest, detention, and investigation of every officer implicated. Let this be clear: extortion, illegal collection of money, or any conduct that betrays public trust will not be tolerated under any circumstances. The Leadership of the Force has committed to a thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation. Any officer found culpable will face full disciplinary action under the Nigeria Police Act, regardless of rank or position. To every Nigerian who recorded, reported, and refused to look away: your vigilance has ensured accountability today. Please continue to report misconduct and hold the Force to the standards it owes you.

Justice for Mene Ogidi is no longer a promise; it is now actively underway. Following the shooting of Mr. Mene Ogidi on 26th April 2026 in Effurun, Delta State, the response from the Force leadership was immediate, decisive, and unambiguous. All officers involved were withdrawn from Delta State and transferred to Force Headquarters in Abuja. The Force Disciplinary Committee convened and expedited proceedings. The findings were clear: ASP Nuhu Usman committed a gross violation of Force Order 237. His actions were unlawful, unprofessional, and a serious breach of the oath to protect life. The recommendation is immediate dismissal. The Force leadership approved it without hesitation. The Police Service Commission has received the forwarded recommendation for ratification. Upon completion, the officers will be handed over to judicial authorities for criminal prosecution. Dismissed, then prosecuted, both. We are aware of the concerns raised by the circulating video. This matter has been treated with the seriousness it deserves, and accountability is being pursued without exception. To the family of Mene Ogidi, we extend our deepest condolences. This loss is deeply regrettable, and justice will be pursued fully and lawfully.

They Didn’t Expect Him. But When He Walked In. The Room Erupted. Today, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, visited the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Abuja Chapter. And the jubilation? Unscripted. Uncontained. Completely real. These are journalists, people trained to stay neutral, observe, and report. But today, even they couldn’t hide it. The happiness was written all over the room. Because when a leader of this stature chooses to walk into your space, not with protocol and distance but with genuine warmth and openness , you feel the difference immediately. For years, the Nigeria’s press has reported on policing. The good, the bad, and the painful. They have written the headlines, asked the hard questions, and carried the stories of communities crying out for better. Today, the man responsible for answering those cries came to them directly. No barriers. No formality. Just a leader who understands that a free press and a professional Police force are not opponents, they are partners in building a better Nigeria. The room felt that. And they responded with everything they had. This is what accessible leadership looks like… God bless Federal Republic of Nigeria God bless the Nigeria Police Force. God bless Nigeria Union of Journalists!

The incident was identified, the officer was located, and prompt action was taken. A video circulating on social media showed an Ekiti State Police officer in camouflage uniform behaving erratically, suspected to be under the influence of an illicit substance. The Ekiti State Police Command responded immediately. The officer, a Police Sergeant serving at Ikole-Ekiti Division, was identified, located, and taken into custody. He is currently stable, but this does not indicate clearance. The Force leadership through the Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, has ordered a full psychological and medical evaluation before disciplinary proceedings commence. Accountability in this case involves both understanding and decisive action, not just punishment. What was seen in that video does not represent the Nigeria Police Force. It does not reflect its standards, its values, or the discipline this institution demands from every officer in uniform. Such behavior will not be excused. We thank the public for your vigilance, which has once again proven effective. You observed, you reported, and we responded.

Inside the Judo ring, rank no longer mattered. What stood out instead were discipline, legacy, and the connection between father and son. The son made three attempts. Each time, experience responded. Strength was not only shown in the throws. It came from years of discipline, sacrifice, and lessons shared across generations. Beyond the uniform, the title, and the office, the Inspector General of Police showed us that true greatness is not just about leading a nation. It is also about raising the next generation to be strong enough to challenge you.

His past work speaks for him. The admiration for the leadership of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu is widely acknowledged. His commitment to the welfare of the officers and men under his command has always been paramount. Beyond welfare, he focused on building better officers, training them not only in policing, but also in how to treat citizens with respect and assist the public in emergencies. Stories like this remind us that true leadership is not defined by authority alone, but by how a leader cares for those he leads, shapes their character, and inspires them to serve the nation with dignity and pride. There is a grief that never fully leaves. The grief of a family that lost someone in uniform, a father who didn’t come home, a spouse who chose duty over safety, and paid the ultimate price. Today, the Nigerian Police Force faced 1,075 of those families and said with cheques in hand: ~ “We see your sacrifice. We honour your loss. And we will not let it go unrecognised.” At the Force Headquarters, Abuja, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM, personally presented cheques totalling ₦2,435,421,584.11 to beneficiaries and next-of-kin of deceased officers, covering policy years from 2018 through 2026, including long-outstanding claims that families had waited years to receive. The IGP emphasized strengthening welfare frameworks, eliminating administrative bottlenecks, and deploying modern technology to ensure faster, more transparent, and more accountable claim processes going forward. “A Force that neglects its fallen heroes cannot inspire its living ones.”
