Families and neighborhoods are being torn apart just to meet arbitrary quotas. It’s wrong. We must stop the cruelty now.

California is the most diverse state in the country, with the most immigrants in the country. We also have the largest economy in the country, the 4th largest of any country in the world. This is not despite our hard working immigrants -- as laborers, as consumers and as innovators -- but because of them. They deserve better than to live in fear of being disappeared, detained or deported without due process by the Trump administration.

When a farmworker falls to his death during an ICE raid. It’s gone too far. There’s a better path forward. That’s why I authored legislation saying that if you’ve been here for years, have no criminal record, contributed to your community, then, yes, you deserve a path to legalization.
