The biggest thing for me is that he stops immediately when she puts her hand in front of her mouth. He doesn't try again, doesn't pull her hand away. He just looks at her and waits. Then she closes the distance herself and kisses him first. That changes the emotional dynamic of the scene quite a bit. Even here, when Luan Nian clearly wants her, he waits for her to make the choice. Once she does, he responds to it rather than initiating over her hesitation. That's especially significant for a couple whose relationship is later criticized through the lens of Luan Nian having more power. The scene doesn't erase that power imbalance, but it does show that Zhitao isn't simply being swept along by him. She wants him too, and in this particular moment, she's the one who closes the distance first. #TheEarlySpring

Damn, their intimacy coordinator did SUCH a good job here. The way they move together, the hands, the rhythm, the way they keep pulling each other closer. It genuinely feels like they’re moving in sync. Almost like a dance. And the camerawork knows exactly when to go close and when to pull back. They managed to make the scene feel so urgent and hungry while still working around censorship. The expressions, the movement, the tension… you can feel how badly they’ve been trying to resist each other. And when Tao tries to pull his robe down and it only gets to his shoulder before the camera cuts? They were BURNING for each other. This scene was insanely well done. #TheEarlySpring

This is one of the most important pieces of Shang Zhitao’s character growth. She doesn't simply “accepts” Luan Nian’s love. She finally "allows" herself to need him. And for someone whose entire relationship with him was shaped by insecurity, that's enormous. Look at her after Harbin. She calls him when she has problems. She asks for his help. She lets him drive her around. She lets him cook for her. She lets him grocery-shop for her. She lets him take care of her parents. She trusts his experience with her startup. And when Luke gets sick, he's the first person she thinks to call. She is still Shang Zhitao. She's working, building her company, making decisions & living her own life. But now she understands that independence doesn't mean doing everything alone. I love how the novel talks about it: “In the past, he was her mentor; she sought him for answers, and though she loved him, she didn't rely on him. Now, she did.” That “now, she did” is everything. Because Luan Nian isn't just her mentor anymore. He's her partner. And she's finally treating him like one. The other line I really love is: “When apart, they worked hard; when together, they were each other’s world.” They’re finally not just two people who love each other. They’re partners. When they’re apart, they have their own lives; when they’re together, they’ve finally learned how to be each other’s home. 🥹🤍 #TheEalrySpring

Because Shang Zhitao is trying to establish ownership: Luke is my dog. And Luan Nian's response basically says “Is he really completely yours? There are pieces of me in that life too.” The moment he says that, Shang Zhitao breaks. She starts crying so hard she can barely hold herself together. She cries against him like she has been holding three years' worth of grief inside her and finally doesn't have the strength to hold it anymore. And Luan Nian’s entire expression changes. He looks wrecked by seeing her hurt and then he just pulls her into his arms. After years of resentment & pride all the things they never managed to say, there’s suddenly no argument left. He just holds her and rubs her back while she sobs against him, tears in his own eyes. THAT is the emotional center of this whole scene. And when he calls her taotao again. She's know where he's going with that. So she quickly pulls away and asks if he just wants see Luke and he says "yes" and her “Okay” is the tiniest crack in the wall. God, I loved this moment so much. I genuinely think this might be my favorite hug in the entire drama. #TheEarlySpring
