Creedence Clearwater Revival was an American rock band that was active from 1968 to 1972. The band consisted of John Fogerty, who was the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter, along with Tom Fogerty, Stu Cook, and Doug Clifford. The band's rapid rise to fame was fueled by John Fogerty's songwriting, which blended rock, blues, country, and Southern swamp influences. They released a number of hits in just a few years, including "Proud Mary," "Bad Moon Rising," and "Fortunate Son." Despite their brief time at the top, CCR left a lasting legacy with a catalog that remains iconic today. 1. Proud Mary

Talking Heads performing “Once in a Lifetime” at The Pantages Theatre in 1983 feels like watching a nervous breakdown turn into art. The groove keeps moving, David Byrne looks like he’s receiving messages from another planet, and the whole performance captures that strange feeling of waking up inside your own life and wondering how you got there.

Rage Against the Machine performing “Testify” at Finsbury Park in 2010 felt less like a concert and more like a full-scale uprising with guitars. Zack de la Rocha sounded possessed, Tom Morello made the guitar sound illegal, and the whole crowd moved like the ground had finally had enough.

R.E.M. performing “Radio Free Europe” live on the David Letterman Show, June 10, 1983. "Radio Free Europe" was the song that introduced so many people to R.E.M.'s unmistakable sound. Peter Buck's jangly guitar, Mike Mills' driving bass, Bill Berry's rock-solid beat, and Michael Stipe's cryptic vocals all came together to help lay the foundation for alternative rock. More than 40 years later, it still sounds as fresh and exciting as ever.

One wrong beat became one of the most recognizable grooves in music history. Harold Brown realized he had flipped the rhythm, kept playing it instead of stopping, and the rest of War built Low Rider around it. Sometimes the best songs come from a mistake nobody tried to fix. Have you ever heard the opening groove and not known exactly what song was coming?

Tribute to legendary Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash, who flatlined on tour and shrugged it off. "I sold my soul to the guitar. If I quit now, I'd have no future." Can't imagine a world without him on that Les Paul. At 21, he helped drop Appetite for Destruction in 1987, becoming a guitar hero in a slick hard rock era. GN'R's raw, dangerous sound, Slash's gritty leads and hooks in Sweet Child O' Mine & Paradise City outshone polished shredders. 38 years & 30M+ sales later, it's arguably the greatest rock debut ever.

Michael Schenker turned "Rock Bottom" into more than a song. He turned it into a journey. Every live version goes somewhere different, and that's part of what makes it one of the greatest guitar showcases in rock history. UFO performing "Rock Bottom" live on November 6, 1974 at Don Kirshner's Rock Concert.
